GREEN LIGHT TOURNEY

RE: GREEN LIGHT TOURNEY
This one doesn't attract me, I'll maybe play the next assuming it's up to your usual standards.

Thanks for the invite though, was more interested in players thoughts on the balance, has anyone else got a sniff of victory as the Sovs? Doesn't seem so from the thread, as such if I were a betting man (and I am) my money would be on Andre where a mearly competent outing with the Germans should lead to overall victory?
Of course I can claim full credit for his achievments as he is one of my opps and I allow him to beat me on a regular basis.

Sorry mate, when you walked into this thread off the street I thought you wanted to sign up.
I'll have to station a bouncer on the door to tell people- "Combatants only"..;)

RE: GREEN LIGHT TOURNEY
RESULT JUST IN

POS 62, WALEED 38 (Minor win for POS)

After cresting the hill with my panzers and sensing this bunch of Russian heavy metal lying in wait, I decided to follow Sun Tzu's sage advice and stay up there- "He will win who knows when to fight and when not to fight"
Basically with just a few turns left the score indicated I was on course for a minor win at least, so I settled for that rather than try pushing my luck by advancing further towards the final flag and risking a severe mauling at the hands of Waleed's 8 T-34's/ KV2's in the scattered trees which make lines of sight intermittent and unpredictable, as well as seriously hampering manoeuvre.
So I opted for the safe play and stayed put..

-----------------------------------------------------------

HALFTIME SCORES
(The second half will be the mirror rematches- also known as 'payback time'- after which the scores of the two games will be combined, so these halftime rankings shouldn't be taken too seriously, generally speaking the Germans will win or at least draw most of the time. The 'plus' results below beat POS)

Huzaar (Ger)= plus 50
Mikey (Ger)= plus 38
Andre (Russ)= plus 32
Feydarkin (Ger)= plus 28
Owl (Ger)=plus 2
RT Pioneer (Ger)= minus 8
Risnervich (Russ)= minus 20
Bootie (Russ)= minus 22
Face (Russ)= minus 22
Waleed (Russ)= minus 24
DasTiger (Russ)= minus 42
Mad Baron (Russ)= minus 46
Beatguy (Russ)= minus 54

GAMES FINISHED SO FAR 13/70
(Tourney ends midnight Sept 30th)

POS Won 8, Lost 5

I opt for the safe play and order my panzers to stay huddled safely on the hill as Norts brown beasts come prowling through the trees like hungry lions looking for their next meal..

COMBAT FOOTAGE- The City

My fast-moving German advance light elements sweep into the city hoping to catch the newly-arrived Russian reinfs off guard but get more than they bargained for as they run head on into Huzaar's pioneers; a potent combination of flame, satchels and grenades quickly despatch an 8-wheeler and halftrack..

As Risnervich's panzers thread their way through the trees and cut the railway, a 45mm ATG hits them in the side..

A closeup of the action. (the gun surrendered a few seconds later after taking a few bursts of return fire)

I must say that from an observers point of view it does appear that the Germans have an advantage. Could be the fact they know when, where and what reinforcements the Soviets are going to get and can therefore plan to interdict them before they get a chance to deploy.

My leading panzers emerge on the woods road and are met by a hail of fire from Sphinx's quick-firing 45mm ATG and 25mm AA gun, plus an Ampulomet (note pool of burning liquid)..

Ah, another armchair 'observer' noncombatant..;)
Any imbalance doesn't matter because it evens out when the players swap sides for the rematch..:)
