Jason, RS units - groan
Jason,
For upcoming, please consider making Japanese "1st line infantry" (only) able to move "3" hexes, on force march, through jungle. Additionally, the "knee mortars" (grenade launchers) should be able to move as regular infantry, not as 82mm mortars. They should be faster. Those would open up RS like nothing else.
Cheers and very good job,
Curt
p.s. please delete the "Banzai" attack

Hi Curt
You bet. I had just started tinkering with the Japanese, there is much more to come in future UPDATES.

Jason, Thanks for saving the most interesting and entertaining army for last. Looking forward to any improvements. And please don't delete the Banzai Attacks....they are a part of history. Change or alter it if you must, but the Banzai Attack should always be an option in one form or another for the Japanese Army.
Just my two cents from a concerned player. And thanks for working so hard on this project. It it appreciated.

Banzai! You better make it an option checkbox first this time, lol
Let the debate begin!

Agree with Mike. The Banzai charge is completely optional, needs no checkbox and does no harm because of that. Leave it there....it may not be a great simulation, but it is infinitely better than the non-flying anti-Newton bombers, and the bizarre bathtub Navy.

Agree. :)
Please keep the Banzai Attacks, but limit such attacks to only surrounded / isolated units + leaders. IMHO this would better simulate the specific battle situations that led to Banzai Attacks - "... as a final suicidal attack gesture by surrounded Japanese forces" - Wikipedia.
Current game rules allow Japanese players to utilize the Banzai attack as a tactical option that is unrealistic and too "game-like."

Apologies, I was primarily answering Curts OOB requests. Any form of programming suggestions are beyond my abilities and would have to be left to Wyatt's discretion.
On the other hand, since the Banzai routine requires a key sequence to initiate, I would imagine it wouldn't be difficult to impose a house rule when playing Rising Sun with a like-minded opponent, if one really wished.

True. Good suggestion Jason! :)
Players can always have a gentlemen's agreement on when a Banzai Attack could be initiated in their game.
It's not like a player could invoke a Banzai Attack that would go unnoticed by his opponent! :whis:

Dunno about that Mike...a distant relly of mine (Father' s cousin as I recall) who fought in the islands used to tell me about some of the potions that were made out of raisins, boot polish, dried apricots etc etc...put anybody to sleep, I reckon.
