All WF scenarios crash --- WF.exe error messages
I have XP. I can play EF without a problem. I can play a WF campaign without a problem.

I TRY TO SELECT "PLAY SCENARIO: FROM THE MENU, AND GET AN WF.EXE ERROR MESSAGE. The game then crashes without ever selecting a scenario.

Suggestions?

Thank you.

RE: All WF scenarios crash --- WF.exe error messages
Does it crash before you get to the "Start a New Game" or "Resume Saved Game" menu?

If so, and it crashes when you click "Start a New Game" try clicking "Resume Saved Game". If there is no crash it is most likely that you have a corrupted custom scenario in your West Front folder.

If the crash happens after you select a scenario try launching the wf.exe application directly from the folder - does it still crash before you get to choose a scenario?

Hi Umbro,

Glad to have you back.

It crashes when I select "start new game". I did not have a "saved game" to resume. I clicked on "resume" anyway & it did not crash, but again I did not have a scenario to choose from.

I think this began shortly after downloading some older campaign games from Craig Foster's site http://redarrowproductions. .

I searched for CCD files & deleted them.

Since EF is working is there a way to save all the EF files (custom scenarios) then uninstall Matrix JTCS & just download the whole JTCS game yet again.

Please remember I know just enough to be dangerous. THANKS!!

Hi there BigD:

You put your finger on the issue - there must have been a corrupted scenario file on Craig's site. When the app reads the file header to generate the scenario list to choose from the corruption causes the application to fall over.

Either find all the scenarios that you downloaded, remove them. Or re-install. Then re-add a bunch at a time until iwest front falls over again. then you can narrow in on the bad one.

Jack,

Here is the root of your problem. As Umbro said, one of the scenarios you downloaded is corrupted.
Try saving each scenario, to wordpad, one at a time and then deleting them from your game folder.
After each delete try to start a scenario. If still corrupted, save and then delete another.

Or, you could take out all downloaded scenarios files and put them back in one at a time. After each download try to start a new WF sceaniro.

Gosh, I hope that helps! ;)

Dear Big Dawg,
See thats what you get for going outside the friendly confines of the Blitz. A terrotrist jumps into your computer and causes all kinds of problems. I guess your going to have to go into your computer and SMOKE him out. Good luck and good hunting.

RE: All WF scenarios crash --- WF.exe error messages
I got it working. It took two attempts because the first uninstall does not remove the actual scenario files.

I just deleted the WF folder & reinstalled the game to fix the problem.

I think the problem began when I downloaded some LCG files from

http://redarrowproductions.com/Guild.htm

I think I will find my files here from now on.cheers
