I'm sorry I missed all the fun in the last debate. Yes I think something is wrong with the new rules, And yes to each his own. Since when has this game gotten to be about reality,being more about realism than playing a game. WHO decided that realism was what people wanted,I nevered voted anyplace. It seems that as Ed has stated, some of the biggest supporters of the new assult rules are certian people. And yes those people can direct what way the game goes and which way it is headed in the future.
I thought the 1.04 was going to be a middle ground between the two. It seems that there is more to the atry and a lot more op-fire than before.The varible visability should be in effect every 6 or so turns, not every turn. As I have said before I don't want every avaible option,I want a game that is fun fast and doesn't require me to read a book before being able play.
There is no way that the scns before the 1.04 will play the same after. People who created the scns couldn't have forseen who hard it would be to assult now. I play for the fun of it and don't care one way or the other I'm just stating what i've noticed while playing.Thanks for your time.

How can a scn set up with EASY assult rules and half @ssed arty be the EXACT same as with these rules. as for playing a game goes ,I've played someon I never beat in a game until the 1.04 rules came out now I haven't lost to him since ,I'm not that good and I know that he's not that bad. I'm not going to mention his name here, but he will know it when he reads this.
All some of the finest heads had to do nothing and it would have been fine. To fix something just because you can doesn't make it right. The new units are fine as are the map upgrades I like the cosmetics that have been added to it. WHO decided that realism was needed???

I think most scenarios don't need to be adjusted once one masters playing with 1.04. For my scenarios, there are a couple that need some extra length thats all, because the new rules fortunately slow down the game a little. I never played the S D C routine much so my own scenarios were not designed with that in mind. The old stock scns were designed before the easy assault rules so these don't need to be adjusted either.
All other designers can make up their mind for their own scns. I don't think a coordinated effort is needed.

If one uses proper tactics 1.04 are not too hard IMO. Personally I don't find attacking more difficult than before (as you've seen in the RS scns we played recently in 1.03 in which assaulting was even twice as hard as 1.04 and you're doing well on the attack in the mirror match too now).

What I would like to know is: Is there a comprensive plan to make all the scenarios 1.04 compatable?

Thsi massive undertaking needs to be done (at least on the stock scenarios) to make them balanced, winable from both sides and fun.

This should really be considered by the fine folks that do such things.

1. When in the history of this game did we have a set of perfectly balanced scenarios?

2. Wargaming has traditionally been about simulation as well. Warfare and battles are rarely evenly balanced. Why this obsession with winning at the cost of making it a decent simulation?

If we are not interested in a sense of realism why bother playing the game, there are literally thousands of arcade games around with nice graphics and sound affects.

If you have something against me being in the military please just come out and tell me. I'm proud of the fact that I spent time in the 10th mountain division based out of Ft. Drum NY . Some reason you don't like the US military. Just wondering what you are trying to say.

When v1.05 gets here with the combined EF\WF oobs, with new unit numbers, all of the old scenarios will have to be redone.

Well as ive stated in another thread on this Huib 13 Panthers and 3 A/C's assault a disrupted Russian mg unit and no effect is the result.That is a glaring no no on these assault rules.The whole problem members had before with the assualt rules were with bunkers and pillboxes not general against infantry in normal terrain.Tanks assualting in Town hexes ok maybe give way there as that was not their function.Just my point on this.
