Xaver Wrote:Well, now the oob is present but cant play, many portraits are MIA and when i open the oob with the editor Palestian troops dont have nacionality and in the map only apear the Otan simbol, no counter, the same for most of irregular units :hissy:

I download the last 3 add-ons from Volcanoman web an install they, the 67-73 and Yihad/Lebanon add-ons :conf:

PD: a great add-on, i like the posibility to divide Sirian troops in companies Eek

The zip contains 10 files only - no art work - the art comes from Volcanos previously created images. If you have them properly installed you should see images.

RE: New Mideast 85 pack by Al Sandrik!
There is no nationality folder for the Palestinians. There also seems to be some names in the OOB that don't match the latest Volcano.

***I am looking at the first scenario #85_1A.I have added an Italian folder which takes care of the Palestinians.Have not seen a need for a Polish folder in this scn.Just have to rename some bmps.Or wait for Al.***

Well, the missing nacionalities are Italian and Polish, i download Libanon mod of Péter Szabó from the page of link and appear the missing nacionalities but not all the art, i think you have installed another mod appart Volcano man mods because i installed the 3 mod and installing Péter Szabó mod leave unit images MIA.

RE: New Mideast 85 pack by Al Sandrik!
All,

I was away on Family business and took a look at this as soon as I when I got home. It's taken me a while to figure out what's going on here but the bottom line is its my bad/mistake and no one elses!!!!!!!!!
One issue is you must also load Peter Szabo's Lebanon 1982 mod as indicated in the posts above. I sent an E-mail to Glenn about correcting that in the narrative on his site but even after that there are indeed some missing unit pics (T-72, ATGMs, MD-500s, etc). Sorry guys but I'm one of the early owners of this game and I've downloaded a lot of stuff. When I created the units for this scenario I worked off of what was in my folders, but where I got those units I'm not sure. I thought for sure the MD-500s came from Volcanoman or Peter but I guess not. This art work thing has never been an issue with past scenarios that I've created but to be honest none have been this ambitious. So to see what is going on here I completely deleted ME '67 from one of my computers and then (in this order)...

1. Reloaded ME 67 Version 1.01
2. Loaded the ME 67 1.06 Zip from the HPS site (which I downloaded tonight so I have the most current).
3. Loaded Peter Szabo's Lebanon 1982 Add-on (which I also downloaded tonight so its fresh).
4. Loaded the three Volcanoman Add-ons/Artpacks (which I also downloaded tonight so their fresh).
5. Loaded my Mideast 1985 Zip file which I downloaded from Glenn's site tonight so it is the same as what you have on your systems.

So now the best I can do is look at the Editor's Missing Pictures and make a list of the missing art work piece by piece and folder by folder. Then I'll create a new Zip File for Glenn which will include the missing units in their folders. Near as I can tell the scenarios will play unit I get you the art work? Is anyone having a problem with them not playing? Bottom line is I'm working on a fix and will do so as soon as humanly possible. You have my most sincere and humble apologies!

Zip file for missing artwork...
Guys,

After doing everything I mentioned above I found 19 missing artwork files in four folders (the Israeli, East-German, Syrian, and Italian folders). If you download the attached zip file into the C:\Program Files\HPS Simulations\Middle East '67 path (or path used by the individual) they SHOULD go right into the proper units folder (God I hope!). Problem is this is such an old game with many mods to the units and artwork that no two computers are going to be the same and I can't look at your folders to see if anything else is missing. If you find other missing units (or problems) write me at [email protected] and I'll try to get your problem resolved. I may just need to copy a few pictures and give you their paths. Sorry guys anyone who has played my previous scenrios for Glenn as well at TOAW series, SPMBT, Tanks, Steel Panthers, etc. knows I take great pride im my work and I'm really sorry this turned out the way it has. Remember you must have Peter Szabo's Lebanon 1982 add-on and all three of Volcanoman's add-ons/artpacks to make this series of scenarios work. If there are other sites were this is being discussed could you pass this info on, Thanks!

Al :(

RE: New Mideast 85 pack by Al Sandrik!
Hi Al,

great work indeed:bow:

but i just have questions about the Arab OOB especially Lebanese and Palestinians troops (names and strength)

- i am Lebanese and for example, there is some Forces that i didn't heard of and don't know about:rolleyes:
- also there is combination, between the Lebanese Army (christian Brigades) commanded by General Aoun and the "Lebanese Forces"(phalanges): Aoun didn't command any LF Unit.
the LF in 85 was a strong independent militia.
- the Islamic resistance isn't a Shiite independent militia, it is just a name of Hezbollah.
- i assume that the "Leb Islamic forces" are the Muslim part of the Lebanese Army (Muslim Brigades)??:conf:
-where is the Druze militia? a very strong :mad:Progressive Socialist Party  under command of "walid junblat" in 1985.
-there is some units miss placed like Hezbollah and what is called "jundullah" (?!!!): in the chouf Mountains, there wasn't any Sunni or Shiite soldier..... all are druze.
-Hezbollah in 85 wasn't that strong :). Amal was the only main shiite force till the late 80's.

there is other things about the oob .........but for now i would like -with your permission of course- to reorganize the Arab part of the oob, to get it as close as possible to the situation in Lebanon in 1985. i also suggest to add to the pack a short document to introduce the Lebanese-Palestinians militias to the Western player, just to let him know the forces that he lead or oppose.

if you like the idea, may i contact you by Email, to discuss those things??
i may need your sources for the Arab oob, and try to investigate the situation with my knowledge and help from Arabic books and websites.

finally, excuse my English i am not that fluent in itBig Grin

RE: New Mideast 85 pack by Al Sandrik!
WOW! Great information!!!!!!!! I wish I had this when I was designing the scenarios! My Lebanese OOB came from Anthony Cordesman and Abraham R. Wagner's "The Lessons of Modern War," Volume 1, The Arab-Israeli conflicts, 1973-1989, pages 293-304. I suspect some of the forces you mentioned may be in here under a different names and factions.

As far as the Druze are concerned, I assume the majority of the Druze militia are fighting north of Beirut. BTW as I as assigned TAD to the 24th MAU Hq at Beirut International Airport in 1983 I have less than warm feelings toward Mr. Walid Junblat for rather obvious reasons!!!!! May the :censored: SOB rot in Hell!!!  Fiery

Off my :soap: and back to the scenarios, as I'm sure you well know the alliances are constantly shifting in Lebanon and trying to come up with a decent OOB is like hitting a moving target, blindfolded in the dark during a hurricane (good luck). Eventually as a designer you have to make a decision and produce the scenario with the best information you have available. I think if you read the Readme file on the OOB (the early zip did omit it but its in there now) I even stated that the OOB for Israel and Syria is the best I could do but I'm sure they are wrong. Until the IDF Spokesperson mails me an official OOB it's just educated guess work, and I'm not going to hold my breath for an official OOB. Another thing to consider, that is an abstraction in these scenarios, is its not like all of the militias modeled in the game would just all make nice and start working together against an Israeli invasion. It didn't happen in '82 and near as I can tell it didn't happen in '06. So the scenario is an abstraction in that regard. Bottom line are all of the militias properly modeled well as you have pointed out NO! If I do another game with Lebanese militias modeled I am going to ask for your expertise if that is OK with you. To me there real question is this, does the OOB go a long way toward modeling the fractured nature of the militias in Lebanon in 1985, I hope it does.

I never have a problem with Someone tinkering with scenarios I design. I'm not going to update the OOB myself as I have another project in the works, but if you do please give it a different name and send me a copy I'd like to see and play it. Not to be standoffish but these scenarios have been six months of my free time and I'm ready for a bit of a change. When you design a scenario and play test it so much you get a bit tired of it. I know that sounds weird but after play testing each on several times to play balance and tweak the A/I its like doing a Masters Thesis.

Also your English is a heck of a lot better than my Arabic (which is non-existent) so never apologize! I look at it this way if you speak three languages you're Tri-lingual, if you speak two you're Bi-lingual, and if you speak one you're and American! Big Grin

Very Respectfully,
Al Sandrik

RE: New Mideast 85 pack by Al Sandrik!
Dany,

One more thing. I was just thinking about your desire to tinker with the OOB. Well if you want to use the base scenarios I desgned leaving the Syrians and IDF alone then before you do anything to the OOB file go into the Scenario Editor and remove the units you are going to adjust from the map in each scenario. If you do not and then change the OOB it will likely cause the scenarios to crash (trust me I've done this more times than I care to count, including when I was 99% done with the original base scenario). I've found the designer can make some minor OOB changes when units are deployed on the map if you're very careful but wholesale changes like your contemplating, I'd just remove all of the Lebanese/Pal. Units and then have fun! :cool2:
