Operation Oboe One - Battle of Tarakan
Guys,

Just finished test playing my first ever attempt at a historical scenario. And am pretty pleased with result.

Here's some blurb about it ....... it's 55 turns long and involves a lot of moving around looking for hidden enemy troops in later stages.

---------

This scenario attempts to depict the Australian invasion of the Indonesian island of Tarakan beginning on 1 May 1945.

I added an extra piece of land on the map on which units awaiting landing craft have been placed. Apart from initial wave, all other landing units will have to be picked-up from this piece landmass, or transport ships as it is meant to portray.

All Japanese forces are "fixed" until turn 13, so it’s probably best played as Allied human against Japanese AI.

As the scenario begins on 1 May Australian troops and artillery have already taken Sadau Island - which they took on 30 April 1945.

For the allies to win a clear victory they have to secure all, if not most of objectives and destroy nearly all of the Japanese forces.

I included a fictitious Aussie amphibious assault on the airfield. There never was such a raid, but figured it added a little something. For those not wishing to assault the airfield, simply remove the amphibious landing units located near Sadau Island in the scenario editor before play.

----------

I placed the scenario here for anyone to download, test and send me some input on opinions on game play, map, OOB etc ...

Would like to hear some feedback before I submit to actual scenario section.

I managed a minor victory.

Enjoy.

Spud ...

Spud,

Kudos to you. Looks like you designed a real monster of a scenario.
I do not play scenarios that are so big. And, I have not done much in Rising Sun.

But, I do admire you for making it. :)

cheers

Thanks. As an Aussie I really appreciate your work I will get to it as soon as I can but that may take a while as I am heavily involved in PBEM EF11 games, 3 LCG's (EF, WF and RS) and the new wonders of 1.04.
If only I did not have to sleep!
