Possibly so, which makes you the right group to ask this question: Is there any way to make a "master map" of (eg) 300x300 hexes which can then be broken down into an (eg) 5x6 grid of (eg) 60x50-hex maps?

If I'm going to learn how to make maps, I'd like to do a tournament map in one fell swoop, rather than making 30 little maps and trying to match the edges ...

Yes, but you need the CD version which allows you to copy and paste. So you could pick the area and paste it into a new map.

No ... er ... yes. I've been meaning to buy both for a year. This finally got me to get around to it. I want to try out that team tourney concept that I described in the Barbarossa thread.

I think you'll find it worth the money just for the extra PBEM slots and the op-fire filter.
The rest is a bonus.
Also the new '5' key units view is very handy, especially in a battle like the last ET where there are many units on the map.

The reason I got the CD versions and paid the cash was mostly to support the SPCAMO guys for all their hard work over the last 10 years.
Don and Andy have put in uncountable hours to keep these games moving forward.
I was even allowed a free CD because of my work on the play-testing squad...and I still paid for both games!
That's how much I appreciate what these guys have done.

Anyway...you won't regret the investment...and you just be bloody harder to beat when you can set your units to react like they have half a brain during your opponent's turn Big Grin

Why don't we have a battle? ...before your CDs arrive that is :-)

I bought MBT for this reason but after seeing 1024x768 I had to buy WW2 for that as well.

That was my primary motivation to purchase. If I never actually receive the CDs, I will already have received more benefit per dollar spent than for any other software I've ever bought.

And the seconday motivation was that the freeware game doesn't play so hot on my new laptop. I kind of need the higher resolution.

I'm just afraid that the PBEM campaign will be a scootch addictive ...

Seabolt you are still restricted to a max map size of 200x160 but create the first then cut a strip off the edge & use it to start the next map. Once you have made the maps you want you can if you wish use cut & paste to select from both these maps & produce the map on the seam.

Then if want maps say size 80x 80 do the following.
1)Select what you want to be the top left corner of the map & drag out an area bigger than the map you want.
2)Paste this in to the top left corner.
3)Now go into prefrences & set map size you want this case 80x80,
go back to map screen & there it is now save it.

If you are unsure how big you want it move mouse over bottom right hex you want in the map read the hex nos & set prefs to that.

By the way I have noticed a lot of light banter on this forum is this acceptable in our politicaly correct age:stir:
