Bye the way, I'm a good chess player, know strategy games very well and I'm also dependable so I won't just disappear. I'm willing to play the French in the multi-strategy Campaign.

I haven't the time to commit to a whole F40 battle, but if you're willing to consider one of the smaller F40 scenarios I wouldn't mind letting you cross swords.

Ok please take the Germans in 0510_06 Masstricht. It's 7 turns and seems like there should be lots of action!

RE: F 40 Campaign
Thanks for the offer Jonny but I can't fit another game in right now. Especially this monster (F40 CG). I am playing Von Nev in this one right now as German. Its the most time consuming PzC game I have played. Much fun for the Germans but not for the faint hearted. We are up to around turn 70 and it takes me 4-5 hours to do a day turn.

Maybe next time.

cheers

Thanks Krak. Yes, 3000 guns to start, 350,000 men, 1200 planes and 3000 vehicles! 70 turns in. That's about a week. How's it going? Jonny Mac[/align]

RE: F 40 Campaign
Well Germany is on track for a victory but more like a WWI slugfest than a Blitzkrieg. Without the fixed Allied units Marty has employed a defence in depth which has limited my ability to acheive a significant breakthru. Mostly small incursions here an there whereupon I round up a few divisions at most.

However the maintenance of his multiple defence lines perhaps diminishes his ability to inflict serious German losses. Thus ultimately the Allies will run out of men and I will breakthru by default.

Casualties are up around 250K for the Allies and 65K for Germany. My tanks are in very good shape (thanks to a 6% recovery rate) but the Allied armour must be down to less than 50% strength I would think.

Its a fun game but it still needs some tinkering. Pro German IMO. We aren't using the alt fire rules. IMO they don't work so good.

If you want to play a game that reflects a more historical outcome play one of the stock CG but adjust the VP schedule as they are heavily in favour of Germany.

Just my take on it.

I'm looking at 0510-91 multi-strategy. I've played the stock game a few times years ago and eventually the Allies do give out after massive losses. My gut feeling is this new multi-stategy game is good. So you began the game with the historical deployments; all 10 Pz Divisions moving through the Ardennes? Did you break through Sedan? J

IMHO, that is a mistake for the Allies. The Allies best weapon is their artillery, which can decimate German stacks with this rule on. There is not much of a disadvantage for the Allies under this rule as a defense in depth is required as mentioned. Stacking is minimal until the Germans are worn down for some choice local counter attacks.

RE: F 40 Campaign
Yes, the Alt fire rules discourage massive stacking, correct? JM
