I am not certain whether everyone saw the recent email from Volcano Man, but 4 Alt packs have been newly updated. They are ;
Tobruk '41
El Alamein '42
Korsun '44
Bulge '44
All can be downloaded from

As the designer for the Korsun '44 Alt campaigns I want to highlight some pretty significant changes in V2. These have come from extensive play testing and further historical research. I have attached the readme document that contains all the changes as there are too many to list here.
One thing I do want to mention is that there have been comments about whether the Russians can breakthrough and encircle the Germans - the answer is an unequivocable yes. The trick is to hammer a section of the front and not just attack all along the line. The Tank Corps are key for supporting the infantry and with the severe reduction in German Panzers the tank Corps are able to be used more as intended. Particularly in the 2nd Ukraine Front area it is woth attacking where the Soviets historically did - through Kapitinovka and on the seam of 72nd Inf and 389th Inf.
Once through with their Tank Corps the Russians did not stop to mop up but pushed on take Shpola, Zvenigorodka and ultimately link up with 1st Ukraine coming the other way. Players should do EXACTLY the same thing - break through and keep going - your infantry are to slow to keep up and you should not wait for them. The Soviet Tank Corps should be used to block the north/ south roads and dig in, while waiting for the infantry to catch up. With infantry only moving 2 hexes a turn it will take at least 25 turns to move half the distance.
Players should also note that there are now more trenches and in some cases bunkers on the map. This is to help the Germans hold for approximately the time they did (24 hours after each Soviet attack commenced). On the 2nd Ukraine Front, the Soviet player will see a few select bunkers in woods and villages - the best way to handle these is to flank them and isolate them - not take them head on. If the German chooses to make a stand, he will lose those units for later. Also key for 47th Panzer Korp is to not burn out 3rd and 14th Panzer divisions trying to prevent a Russian breakthrough. You need those formations for later....
I would love any further feedback from players, but my playtest team are now finding these scenarios work very well and we are achieving historical results.
