RE: Bootcamp game
Welcome to the club Low Bidder.

Sorry for the slow response, there are actually members here Big Grin

There are a few tourneys going at the moment and things seems a bit slow.

I will take you up on a game if you wish.
I was hoping that another newer player would take the honours...but we cannot have you languishing in boot camp for much longer eh!

So, drop me a mail on [email protected] if you want to battle.
If you wish to wait and see who else shows up, that's all good too.

My time is very limited at the moment, so I can only play something smallish and fast.

Cheers
Walrus

RE: Bootcamp game
Thank you oh tusked one. I think I have a boot camp game lined up.
I say think because we have been dancing around actually starting the game for the last 3 days now. I'm past ready to go I just don't want to press the issue to hard, being the fresh egg and all that. I received another offer and accepted that. Not sure if there is a limit on boot camp games. I read the rules but figuring there wasn't a test, didn't study them.
I saw another post for a recruit game and thinking that two birds was better then one tried to send him a PM to arrange a recruit game for both of us. I screwed up and got his profile. Joined in '02. Got to be one 'ell of a boot camp. Must be the evening movies and the filet mignon

RE: Bootcamp game
There is no limit on games. You can play as many as you want. I would only suggest that you finish what you start, and all will be well.

As for playing me, if you have one lined up, go with that.
I have to go on tour soon and that will disrupt my playing quite a bit.
I just didn't want to see you hanging eh. I have two tourneys going and trying to help run one too...plus a para battle against another new player (he's very good and kicking my arse!) and my old nemesis Weasel, who's also kicking my arse....oh, and a team game...if the Germans every get around to playing their turn...terribly slow....as if they were perhaps...worried, or even....a touch scared. Time will tell.
That's a lot of games on the go for the time I have available at the moment.

If you don't report a game on the ladder for 12 months you drop into the Inactive list.
Just reporting one game gets you back to the ladder, that's what Shortreengage is doing, albeit with tongue firmly in cheek.

If you have trouble getting a game, drop me a line.

Or perhaps someone else here would like to offer a new member a way out of boot camp HINT BLOODY HINT EH WHAT!!!!:soap:

Carry on...

Hey, I did my duty vis a vis a new guy. Who's like a ghost. Maybe 13 turns in and I don't have the first clue where I stand against him ...

Good for you taking on these new chaps.
They are training them well out there somewhere eh...or we are getting soft in our old age :chin:

RE: Bootcamp game
I do admit to being amused at the number of Blitzers that are leaping on the conclusion that new to the Blitz means new to SP. IIRC, the original sold over a million copies. Or maybe that was SP2. Regardless, when you google Steel Panthers PBEM, it returns a LOT of entries.

"Despite the original Steel Panthers being over a decade old, the game still has a fairly large following who play the freeware remakes. The official support forum for SP:WAW has over 2000 registered members"

From Here;
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steel_Panthers

My main purpose in joining the Blitz was to find opponents for campaign games.
The PBEM campaign adds a little strategy to the world's best tactical game. Yet it requires dedicated players to finish off a long PBEM campaign. My current longest running campaign is on it's 7th game with 3 more to go.
I'm 2 points behind, since my opponent is smarter then I and went all out to win the second game. We tied all the rest. I chewed him up so bad that second game that he has played for the draw ever since. But he is still ahead. And I'm running out of time.
My long term attrition strategy vs his grab and hold.

No, there are a host of players who have never heard of the Blitz. Somebody needs to update the Wiki entries.
I used to play SP on the Leadeaters ladder. Remember them?
Leadeaters has been dead for almost a decade, I think. I think that removes me from the 'rookie' category. At least as far as SP goes.

How many entries would this search produce;
鋼豹

I want to play an Oz/ChiCom Campaign. Set in about 2015. Instead of flags or terrain objectives, have the Australians include a few of the UN observers as allies. Those UN types represent Women ( Australian Women to be exact). If the Chinese capture them or forces the Auzzies to kill them to keep them from being captured, the Chinese win. It would be to much fun to play it against a Chinese opponent.
