reading question
Can anyone recommend me a good book to start with about WWII warfare on Eastern Front (memories, overviews etc)? Preferably in more less simple English and it would be great if I'll find it on net.

Thank you.

I don't know that I can meet your desire for books written in simple English and free on the web, but I can suggest:

--Hitler Moves East by Paul Carrel (great but hard to find)
--Scorched Earth, also by Carrel and also very hard to find
--Panzer Aces and Infantry Aces by Franz Kurowski. I think Stackpole Military History is now publishing these titles
--The Road to Stalingrad and The Road to Berlin by John Erickson. These are comprehensive and detailed histories. They suffer terribly from lack of maps, at least in the edition I have.

There is an awful lot of content on the web too, and it's easily found. Here's something I came across just today that looks pretty interesting:

Good luck!

RE: reading question
Probably broader than you're after, but Gerhard Weinberg's World in Flames is the best single volume on WWII globally ever written.

Unfortunately can't find any of those on the web, but thanks a lot for information. The link was helpful too.

If you find something interesting to read online or download (battle descriptions and such), and don't forget  please drop me a note.

cheers

There is not much in English :(

I am looking for something useful to read and improve my language at the same time :chin:

Thank you for the link.
It is a huge library out there!

RE: reading question
"The Forgotten Soldier" by Guy Sajer

Supposedly a true autobiography....an excellent read of an EF grunt perspective true or not.

RE: reading question
The Sajer book has been called into question as a total fabrication. Caveat emptor.
