Map Editors & Vista
Anyone!!! I have a problem with the map editors for all three games under JTCS. The size of the map, and all of the slide bars have a green block blocking the area, so you can't see how big the map is. I tried a couple solution I found on the Matrix website forum(i.e. setting windows classic theme, etc) this did not work. Anyone know of a solution to getting rid of these "blobs" so I don't have to make my map under my XP computer and then load them onto my laptop with vista to then continue with scenario creation and map improvement.

Thanks Stuka 44

RE: Map Editors & Vista
I have the same problem with Vista & map editing, unfortunately I haven't found a solution either.
I've searched the forums here and at Matrix with no luck.
I wondered if it was the colour setting, so changed from 32 down to 16 bit but it made no difference.
It would be nice to know if someone has found a solution.

Cheers,
Gordon

Ok at least its nice to know i'm not alone with this problem. Yeah I tried the color setting, and run in comatabilithy mode for Windows XP, and that didn't do anything either. C'mon somebody has to have a solution. Its like something within the Matrix game is tring to run at the same time and is interfering with the set up of the map editor.

RE: Map Editors & Vista
I believe that the map editor is supposed to be run as a full screen app (so there should be no slide bars).

Try running the map editor stand-alone instead of launching it from the WF application. You can find it in your game folder as WFmap.exe (or whatever prefix is appropriate for the game you are developing the map for).

RE: Map Editors & Vista
Thank you Dan !

I have no problem using the map editor from the main menu or the sub-folder?
Stuka, can you attach a screen shot of what the map display looks like?

Peter: It said the photo I took was too large to attach to the post. I found your email on the ladders, and sent you a photo of it.

RE: Map Editors & Vista
I see now that there is a problem with the editor in vista.
I never use the facility to create maps, I always open it to edit maps, close the map box and then use 'file' - 'new' and build maps from there.
If you are trying to create a map using the sliders, then the function is faulty.

RE: Map Editors & Vista
Don,
I hope this is some good for you.
I've found that if you go to program files JTCS and open Extras, you can then open the various map editors from there.
Once the desired one is opened it will come up with a complete list of scenario maps to edit.
Close this dialog box and from the File Menu click New.
You then get a dialog box asking what size of map you want.
Just fill in the the width and height sizes you require and you will get a blank map of that size, you can then edit this to your preferences.

Cheers,
Gordon
