Kubelwagen Transport Capability

Kubelwagen Transport Capability
Or rather, the lack thereof. Building an OOB mid 1941, I find the Kubelwagen has no transport capability. Given that this was the vehicle's prime role, this is surely an error.
Which is the best way to report errors such as this?....it would not seem to fit with the Matrix site New Unit Request.

I will create a form.

Yes, it is an error.

It should only be able to transport officers or really low strength platoons, in my opinion... (unless people are including "squadrons" of Kubelwagens).

You will find that Kübelwagen's were used in a number of leichte Schtuzen Kompanie and mid/late war as part of the Panzeraufklärungskompanie and leichte Aufklärungskompanie as part of their organic transporation.

Jason...I (finally) noticed a MCS User Bugs forum on the Matrix site. This would seem the place to whine about bugs such as the no-seat kubelwagen. Your advice is sought.

RE: Kubelwagen Transport Capability
I like that the lowly kubelwagen is finally getting it's spot in the sun. It's a very difficult vehicle to use correctly - mine just sit in the rear areas inside forests with op-fire turned off.

Several months ago, I mentioned to Jason that many vehicles still have a defense factor of one. He mentioned it was an oversight and that it should be corrected in the next update (please correct me if I'm wrong on that Jason). So hopefully kubelwagens will be a bit harder to kill as well, with an "upgraded" defense of "2."

If you're thinking it should stay at defense of "1" because it's so much lighter and smaller than a truck, you have to take into account how much harder it would be to hit than a truck (because of the low profile and small size). Imho, ALL vehicles save bicycles, motorcyles, and inflatable rafts should have a defense of at least 2. Once you make the argument trucks must be at least 2, there's not much reason to leave other vehicles at "1" defense.

As a side note, I should mention that the "Schwimmwagen" - the amphibious cousin to the kubelwagen - was a vehicle I recommended to have a carrying capacity as well, for infantry only. Jason said he'd mull it over (this was about a year ago). I hope it gets approved - the vehicle could seat at least 4, and several of them could move a small number of infantry over a river. I mentioned, as I recall - that it's infantry capacity should be limited to about 3, for realism and game balance purposes, but we'll have to see what Jason works out.

Which reminds me - will there ever be a motorized axis officer equipped with schwimmwagen instead of a normal kubelwagen? They wouldn't be common, but the ability to move a valuable officer over a river in an emergency could save them from being captured. :cantswim: I know for a fact German officers used them as staff cars - google "Schwimmwagen" and look at the pics.

One last point. I do not think I've ever had so much as a "disrupted" result against an enemy I shot with a kubelwagen. Is there any way the firepower could be upped a bit on them? :smg:

talk care all.
Thus, what is of supreme importance in war is to attack the enemy's strategy.

You can add information here to any unit updates you would like to see.

Quite right, and again, that would be for squadrons of kubelwagens (4 guys per, understrength platoon of 24 in 6 kubels - and of course only light arms). In other use, or in smaller numbers I still feel carrying capacity should be extremely limited. They're not trucks.

Indeed, they are not trucks. They are supposed to have the same carrying capacity as the jeeps.

Here is a sample of the organization for a Panzeraufklärungskompanie that utilized the Kübelwagen.

Everything but the mortars were carried by the Kübelwagen, which I think is how I have them organized in the OOB's for the East Front.
