Eyefinity Gaming
Tried something new today. My ATI video card supports a multiple monitor arrangement called Eyefinity. Instead of explaining Eyefinity, you can watch this video of it:

For a crazy setup, watch this one:
http://hardocp.com/article/2010/03/23/at...xperience/
I upgraded to a new 24" 1920 x 1200 monitor, but set the previous one next to it in a dual monitor setup (also a 24" 1920 x 1200) and tried out eyefinity in 3840 x 1200 resolution. Fired up an HPS game and viola! Huge map all on the screen(s)! This could be pretty useful for the big map scenarios. You can rotate them and run 2400 x 1920 too (portrait mode).
Although Eyefinity has been touted for FPS games, it could be pretty useful for any games that use large maps too like some of the HPS scenarios. I think it's even better for map based screens than the FPS. Kind of like setting up those old cardboard maps before computers.

That is very cool.
Of course, I can already see getting tired of moving the mouse cursor from the far right of the right-hand screen over to the "save MPs" button over and over again.... (Sure wish there was a hot key for that one.)

RE: Eyefinity Gaming
Got a fix for that too. Ordered a 5700 dpi mouse (Logitech G500) that should be pretty zippy. Didn't order it for Eyefinity, just because it's on sale at Newegg and my MX 518 is getting worn.

RE: Eyefinity Gaming
That's just awesome. Can only imagine the epic-ness of playing eyefinity with 3 monitors....that would just be insane. That would be Godly on gigantic scenarios. The only problem is, when play a small scenario, you would be stuck looking off the to the left most screen. :cheeky::laughing:
EDIT: As for the problem of always moving the cursor to the far left to hit interface buttons, hotkeys should do it.

For small scenarios, just switch Eyefinity off and play on all three monitors simultaneously...

I would love some of that action. However, it took Mrs FLG 3 weeks to get used to the 22" monitor when I upgraded from a 15" last year. I can only guess what she would say if she came home and found the Dining Room littered with two or three 22" monitors.
Still in about 10 years the kids will be leaving home, I might even get a study out of it. :whis:
