Snapshot question

Snapshot question
This is a silly question, but I can´t figure it out.
I see some of you can take snapshots of the strategic map, but when I press "J" to see it, I cannot select "Snapshot" from the menu.
Is there a keyboard shortcut to take a snapshot?
If it is not, how is it done?

Yes it is separate.

On my computer, I hit CTRL PRTSC (print screen). Next, I open my paint program ( Paint.net ) and then select paste from one of the drop down menus; this produces the picture on my screen. Next I save it under whichever extension I want to.

And that's how I do it!

RE: Snapshot question
Thanks Checkmate! I tested it and it works fine. Now my AARs will be better looking.

RE: Snapshot question
For whatever it's worth, on Windows XP you don't even have to press CTRL. Just hitting the Print Screen button will do the trick.

RE: Snapshot question
Couple of quick points here

The game has a function - File => snapshot which creates a snapshot.bmp file of the map but not the unit window. This isn't really as good for AARs as I often like the unit window in the screen.

Also - the output in a BMP and those are larger and less friendly so you have to open and save as to make them jpg's usually.

The Printscreen function fromt he button is a windows function and that is useful but when you have two screens it captures BOTH or teh whole area and not teh screen you are working on.

Alt Print Screen is another windows function and it captures the ACTIVE Dialog or Window - this is usefull for capturing limited pieces of info without having to make a larger image and crop or cut to get what you want.

RE: Snapshot question
It was as simple as pressing a button! Thanks for the tip.

RE: Snapshot question
The thing, too, to be considered in other HS series (such as Civil War, Napoleonic, EAW, etc) there isn't a snapshot command -so you have to use the 'print screen method'.

What Glenn posted was spot on -but well, I'm too something to remember which one is which -and just go for cropping in my image editing program of choice.
