People with Win7
Here is a link to the Camo site need some people to test this who have win7 operating sytems
http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthrea...post765785

What it is hopefully is a fix for colour pallete & other graphic issues.
Need to know if it works so can be incorporated into the game.
If it does should solve all graphic issues.

Like it says just take a few minutes to replace your exec & test it vs the AI or whatever. Just move a few units about zoom in & out visit purchase screen HQ screen etc.
You can just delete it afterwards & put your exec back.

Report results to the thread or here & I will pass them back.

From last conversation with Don think he is hoping this will fix the pallette problem giving a Win7 compatible version that plays in window or fullscreen mode without distortion.
The idea is to release it as soon as they know it works rather than wait for the next patch hence they need the feedback.

Cheers
John

RE: People with Win7
No body apart from Fred running Win7?

It will take like 40 minutes of your time to test report & put it back, if your worried about PBEMs perhaps Fred could chip in & say its fine wont effect them because your putting the old exec back

All you have to do is add a letter to your original exec X for instance do the the test then remove the X & the games back to normal.

Without people with Win7 testing & reporting they cant see what the problems are its just 2 guys maintaining a game not a software house they need people to test it on a few computers then they can figure out what if anything still needs fixing.

Simple thing is they either dont fix it or fix it in the next patch & wait for people to say the game wont run & then report it to fix it.

Just report your findings here no need to go to shrapnel I can mail Don the results.

Just give your operating system & say if it worked or not.
If not include any error message & a couple of lines to say what happened.

Cheers
John

RE: People with Win7
I would help but I run ubuntu 10.4 LTS
I consider Win 7 malware. Last time I looked my unbuntu options for Windows was 3.1, 95, 98, XP and Vista. So I can't help. Would if I could.

I've used this fix for a while now, I think I got it from Shrapnel forums about 6 months ago, it fixes the color problem so you can run it in full screen mode, however it seems to be kind of unstable I've experienced frequent freezes and have had to power off my machine to correct the problem, also once you run the program using this fix you cannot Alt + Esc back to your desktop mid-game it crashes your system and a reboot is required again, these are the only two problems that I have experienced so far and I've been using it for a while. It also works for WinWW2 you just have to edit the cmd file with note pad, where it reads WinSPMBT.exe just replace that with WinWW2.exe

Iwo Jim

That is an old fix probably posted by me
Ncrawlers fix

This is a new one that hopes to fix the issues it has.
It can be installed straight over it there are no compatibility issues it will overide it.

This one is Shrapnels atempt to fix it so they need feedback to see if it has or if more work is needed

let me ask Don if it is actually an improvement or just a rehash before you try it I dont want you to waste your time if its going to cause the same problems for you.

How do you use the current fix fullscreen or windowed?

RE: People with Win7
It still seems to have the same problems, there also seems to be a bit of a lag when choosing certain menu items like zoom, unzoom, unit menu. I'm running it in full screen mode, if I run it in window mode it runs fine without the fix.

RE: People with Win7
Okay thanks for that I think they are going to settle with it for the moment & perhaps look at once issued as it works fine in windowed mode.

RE: People with Win7
I only have WW2 version but the http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/showthread.php?t=45462 Nightcrawler fix worked for me

When they have this for WW2 I would be more than anxious to test
