SPWW2 opponent wanted

RE: SPWW2 opponent wanted
Ha ha...good luck getting anyone to bite with that rule!

I know where you are coming from with that though, it is completely unrealistic to rush forward and then cover yourself with smoke at the end of your turn so that the enemy has no chance of direct fire against your troops during their turn.

The answer to this tactic is, dare I say it, z-fire.

Use MGs to hose down the smoke area and there is a good chance you will suppress the enemy enough that they get stuck there and run out of smoke.
Especially good for clearing tank riders as they now get hit very hard if the are fire upon when riding tanks.

I do try to limit z-fire to support weapons only...rather than every infantry unit firing all their weapons each turn.

Watch out for a very high visibility battle. If it is set in the summer months, you will have massive dust trails to deal with.
If you think 'charge and throw smoke' is annoying, wait until you get someone using dust trails as a smoke screen...that really bites!

I used to play in SPWaW depot and those guys were quite fond of that rule.:) Taught me to use terrain as cover, not force fields. Well, lets see if someone is interested. If not, I might just have to relearn my bad habits.:P

Smoke is very different in the two different versions of the game.
In WAW series, it is as you say, a Force Field, which never dissipates...which is one of the reasons I never played WAW. Totally unrealistic.

In SPCAMO series (WW2 and MBT) there is a hidden and changeable wind variable. Some games the wind and dust can last for ages, in others, it's almost gone the next turn.

Much better system IMO.

Good luck

RE: SPWW2 opponent wanted
Hello!

Looking for opponents to play a game of winSPWW2 v 4.25 CD-version. I have some experience.

Preferable conditions:
1000-6000 pp.
All realism preferences ON.
Off-map artillery is denied.
10% artillery limit or even it is less.
Ammo carriers are allowed.
Avia/artillery bombard in 0 and 1 turn are forbidden (excepting smoke screen statement).
Visibility is 40-60.
Game length is 20-30.
Troop quality 70% or historical.
Basic security.

I can do up to 1-4 turns a day, but not every day.

Hi Leo

I have no time for another battle, sorry.

I just wanted to suggest that you start a new thread for this battle request rather than jmake this post on someone else's.
Saves confusion eh.

Good luck - your preferences look very good.
