Your recruit status is only for the forum and is based on your post count, the more you post the higher the rank you attain.

Your rank on the ladder (Lance Corporal) and the ladder points you had earned in the past have been retained while you were inactive, since your game with Bob was registered you are now active on the ladder again. ;)
