Unit Icons/ What Is It?

Unit Icons/ What Is It?
In the pic below, I am seeing the icon located in the red circle however, the manual doesn't show that icon in the listing of unit icons located on page 35-36 in the non-print friendly manual.

To me it looks like a radio.

Does anyone know what that icon stands for and/or where I can find it in the JTCS PDF manual?

It seems to left out of the printed version also.The Info Box 4.18 starting on page 27 through 29 does not have a picture either.I have always assumed it to be a radio.When you click on the leadership icon in the game it always shows up with leaders and HQ units.Always assumed it to be designated to supply and communication.
Thanks Jason.I was wondering though why they didn't work some kind of intel recon relay into these units back to hq with the supply info also.It seems there should be some kind of bonus added to these units considering how close they must maintain their range to be beneficial to the surrounding units under said units umbrella of control(CP).Seems a waste to just allocate these units to supply only.They are a big ticket item when you kill them.Just thinking a little outside of the box here.

These units will have negative effect on morale recovery (-1) and disruption recovery (-1) to units outside their Command range (which is typically 4 hexes) or if eliminated from the map. This offers additional insight into defending to the best of ones abilities with Extreme Assault.

I believe they do not affect supply at all.

I am confused. I have a total of 5 rifle platoons however, the unit in the pic is the only one with that icon. If command control has to do with HQ's and supply, why is the icon showing with only the one unit instead of more units, or why doesn't a leader show it instead?

Command Control – Under this rule, the HQ supply “ranges” are varied depending on the year
and the nationality. Each nationality has a built-in modifier that modifies the base “50% range”
of each HQ. For example, in 1942 each German HQ has a 120% (1.20) modifier that is applied to
modify the base range of each HQ (as seen in Campaign Series’ Pdata.hlp file). Thus, a German
battalion HQ that normally has a 50% range of “8” has that multiplied
by 1.20, resulting in a new
“50% range” value of “10.”
In addition to the above modifier (depending on year and nationality), any HQ that is stacked in the
same hex with the Leader associated with that HQ has its base “50% range” increased by that
leader’s Leadership Number. For instance, a divisional-level Leader only increases the range of his
division’s HQ, not the regimental and/or battalion HQs of his division.
Command – If the Optional Rule for “Command Control” is enabled, a company-level “Command
Post” (CP) is deemed to be inherently present with the first platoon of each company. If the first
platoon is eliminated, the benefits of the CP are lost (it would be unrealistic to have the CP duties
passed on in the time frame of a typical scenario). A CP unit is denoted by a radio icon displayed
in the icon area along the left side of the Info Box. In addition,
all friendly CP units are highlighted
when you select Highlight HQ.
Units that operate beyond their company CP range (or if their CP is not present on the map) are
subject to the following penalties:
• Less chance of Morale recovery (–1)
• Less chance of Disruption recovery (–1)
A CP has an effective range (radius) which is about half the range of that side’s battalion
HQ. A CP’s
range is highlighted if it is selected when the W Hot Key is pressed.

The radius highlighted by the W Hot Key is the limit of company CP
control, while for battalions it is the 50% chance of resupply. This in
effect means that units slightly beyond the battalion HQ radius can
still be re-supplied, but at a rate slightly less than 50%. However, units
outside the company CP radius suffer the penalty as described above.
