Jump Map Mod?
Is there a way to modify the jump map? Since it provides an overview of the entire map, I was wondering if I could change the color of the main roads and rails (and rivers) on the map.

It's hard coded. That's why I reworked the zoom-out mode in my mods over at Task Force Echo Four, even though the reduced scale is way too small to play.

If the jump map could be modded, the first thing I'd fix would be the use of red/blue for the units, which tends to be the reverse of what it should be.

Correct me if I'm wrong or out on a different tangent.
Does'nt replacing the 2D hex files with Jison or Phillipe's one's alter the colour of the jump map.

You're correct. It does alter it. I'm so annoyed by the blue/red hard coding that I had forgotten that you can influence the colors on the jump map.

The jump maps are built using the 2d zoom out graphics (only smaller).

I've worked with them many times - as a modder one would be better off just going for whatever effect that they are trying to achieve from just the 2d zoom out version of any map. And all Tiller Black Powder titles work this way as well, and I would think that all SB titles do as well (although I have not ever worked with any of those just yet).

Well, I sure wish that we could change it so that the roads and rails would be more distinct on the jump map. I figure primary roads in red, rails in distinct black. Something like that.

Too bad you can only have it by having the same colors in the main map.

I'm not sure how that would end up looking in the 2d zoom out mode... however, I'm sure it can be done -however you would have to have your *50.bmp files changed to what you wanted to use on the jump map.

In that case, it becomes a question of what map a user finds most useful. Mind you I am not saying that it won't be done -but that is the technicalities behind it.

The other thing too, is if the main ground colors were a little lighter, then that would also aid in infrastructure visibility. Interesting stuff.

The rest of it becomes, which files one wants to use ( mix and match ).
