Question from a Newbie

Thumbs_Up  Question from a Newbie
I've just joined the Squad Battle ladder and I'm at a loss as to which game I should purchase first? So I can get my feet wet and jump into this series! Are there any fan favorites out there? I personally love WWI, but I know there are no Squad battle games out for that war......yet.......Is there anything somewhat similar to "trench warfare" fighting?..............Whats you favorite?

Thanks in advance,

Gary aka Medic21 Big Grin

RE: Question from a Newbie
Trench warfare - Dien Bien Phu.

You'll probably find the most games with Red Victory though.

Modern War has also seen strong response.

RE: Question from a Newbie
Welcome aboard.

Just pick out a title that interests you the most.

You will not have any trouble finding any PBEM opponents over here!

Also, don't forget to check out Task Force Echo-4 http://tfe4.wordpress.com/

It is a one-stop-shop with a ton of 3rd party scenarios, unit art, map/graphics, etc. If you look around, you will find that there are several 3rd party scenarios found for the following games: Eagles Strike (ES), Pacific War (PW), Tour of Duty (TOD), and Vietnam (NAM).

Even though Red Victory (RV) has no 3rd party scenarios shown on TF-Echo4, it is the newest WWII Squad Battle game to be released, and it has been popular in PBEM ladder games. I believe it will be the next title that will be used in the next Squad Battles tournament.

BTW, another good place for AOTR and RV 3rd party graphics is IronxMods http://ironxmods.wordpress.com/

Any questions? If so, feel free to ask.

Good Luck!

Don't forget about Korea (The Korean War). "Out-of-the-box" it's got 70+ scenarios & there are additional scenarios and art work available at Task Force Echo-4. It's a very good title that unfortunately gets lost in the shuffle sometimes.

Just my 2 cents...

Absolutely.

This was the second game I purchased and still ranks as a favorite. Watch out for those pesky human waves!

Glad that I could help. :) Have a look at the liner notes for Korea. Since you're new to the series there are some pretty useful tips & the notes provide a very good primer for the Korean War: a lot of information that I wasn't previously aware of...
