Map Question
I posted this at The Wargamer site and was told this may be a better place to ask this question.

I just recently purchased Danube Front '85 and while reading through the Campaign notes noticed that the base maps for the game are from the CIA. I went to the CIA's website and located their map section and found where the maps for Germany are. However, none of the maps have any pictures or scales listed to show what type of maps they are. Does anyone have a small sample of the base maps they could post and what scale the maps are?

Thank you in advance,

Dan Stueber

RE: Map Question
Dan,
If Glenn does answer your question here you could also try sending it to JTS support at the John Tiller site?

RE: Map Question
Dan,

The answer is coming, I just have to dig through my old back ups. I think they were 1:500,000 Aeronautical charts from 1985, orientated NE, but will check and send a jpg if I still have the map. I usually do keep them.:smoke:

RE: Map Question
Thanks Blackie! I have 1:500,000 maps of Germany for the year 1995 I believe but would like a map more in the mid 1980's range if it is available. I am not sure how different they would be but I am kinda anal-retentive about maps for my games.

Is the map in digital form or paper?

Thanks again,

Dan Stueber

RE: Map Question
Dan,

As Glenn says they were aeronautical charts that were scanned, joined, then scaled for the MC system. Not a process for the unskilled, believe me. Not sure who did this, but I think it was John himself this time.

RE: Map Question
That sounds very cool. I would love to see the map if possible. Probably too big to download though. If it is from the CIA site I can probably purchase it and at least have it available.

Ya - it is huge - I'd say over a 100 MBs even in pieces.
