Just wondering how our eastern states members faired
through the recent hurricane?

Most of what hit here, in the Philadelphia area, was rain and more rain followed by flooding.
A few branches down and a couple tornadoes spotted but, nothing like what was expected.
Some deaths came from falling branches and people driving into fast moving water in low lying areas.

Vermont is another story. They got hit with a once in a century storm. I feel for them.

I live in the New Orleans area and i can tell u Huricans and tropical storms are no fun, they cause lots of damage, sometimes these systems can change people,cities and landscapes in just a few hours, to all the folks on the east coast i wish all of u a speedy recovery, i know what u are going thru...first hand..

Downeast coastal maine was only hit with a rain event......power flickered but stayed on for the most part......had to cut a tree out of my driveway to get to work....it was just an annoyance here.......in other parts of the stae not quite the same.......as of yesterday some were still without power.....and a lot of the schools lost the first 2 days of school......usually winter before that happens.........Sugarloaf was cut off when both briidges leading in went out.......last report was it would be November before they were both operational.....a lot of the tourist places are losing big time during the holiday weekend.......but Ed is right it was nothing like Vermont's night mare.......

I'm sure New Jersey was in the news all over, but honestly the Passaic river floods whenever someone flushes a toilet. Why people are allowed to live in that area I'll never know. The Wayne area, Little Falls, parts of Patterson make the news every year when it rains a lot. Of course this year was way worse.

Up where I am in the northern part of the state was pretty uneventful. Parts of my town were without power, due to trees on the lines, but all back to normal after a few days.

Mudslides have damaged local rail lines just across the border in New York. That's supposed to take months to fix.

The sobering reminder for all of us in the Northeast was that this was only a Category 1 hurricane. I can't begin to image the big ones like Andrew that ripped across Florida and, of course, Katrina that came closs to wiping New Orleans off the map for good.

Yeah I can only imagine. Worst I have experienced is serious floods over here.
Just glad to know our members are safe after it all.

New Brunswick Canada had it similar to Maine.Mostly rain but moments of fairly high winds knocking out power to some for 2 or 3 days in some areas.

Hurricane Irene made landfall approximately 160 miles southeast of us (Durham, North Carolina)... and brought us 30+ mph winds and left some yard debris... my neighbor across the street lost a few trees... but my family and I never lost electricity at our home... and it was pretty much a "none event" for us.

My thoughts and prayers continue to go out to the folks who were "more directly" impacted by this hurricane. :(
