PzC/MC/ACW Windows 7 troubles
Hi guys i dont know if anyone can help me?
I've just upgraded my PC and it came with Windows 7 installed, previously i used XP Pro, and i'm having a few problems with all the titles from the HPS PzC/MC/ACW ranges.
Firstly when i install the games it cant install DirectX, even though its already installed when i installed Shogun 2 Total War, then when i try to play the games it starts fine but then when i try to click anywhere on the maps the whole game interface goes wierd, whole sections vanish or just turn white!
I've tried looking on the HPS Windows 7 help section but none of these problems are listed there, i also tried things like playing the games in windowed mode and that made no difference!
Does anyone else have similar problems or know of a fix?
Thanks in advance for any help.

First thing you have to install the HPS games right to C directory not to Program Files x86 some games will only load to that directory like the Civ games

I'm still running WinXP so I can't offer any help however, if you do not have any success, contact HPS Support for some guidance.

Also John Tiller Software, Matrix Games and Shrapnel Games need to be loaded in the C directory. You may have to make the folder for those companies but I don't remember exactly at the moment

RE: PzC/MC/ACW Windows 7 troubles
Thanks, my HDD has been partitioned into 4 virtual drives...
C: is for the OS
E: is for Steam based games
F: is where i installed the game to a directory i called F:\games\HPS\
The game starts ok but like i say its some sort of graphics/directx compatibility issue.

I am not sure if you went here: http://www.hpssims.com/vistahelp.htm. If so, you may not have scrolled to the bottom of the list. Go there, they say to use Alternative Scrolling, otherwise you have graphic issues, which I believe match what you are experiencing.
Good luck, if that doesn't help you may want to try HPS support.

RE: PzC/MC/ACW Windows 7 troubles
This is a mystery. I would contact HPS support (they are very helpful and quick). I have an assortment of HPS, MC, PzC, F14, Naval and SB titles all running just fine under Windows 7 x64.
I would start with the basics and echo what has been posted above.
1. Make sure you have the latest graphics drivers for your graphics card (...not just using the built in windows 7 drivers).
2. Reinstall your HPS titles and make sure you are installing them outside the "Program Files (x86) or Program Files" directories (looks like you have tried this already). Install as administrator (right click on the installer and choose "run as administrator".)
All my HPS titles are installed to C:\HPS Simulations\...
3. Try running the game as administrator (right click on game icon and choose "run as administrator"...see if that makes a difference.
3. Turn of UAC's in Windows to see if that resolves issues. Personally I turned off UAC's since I am the only user of this machine and then I don't have to bother with the installing as administrator and running as administrator BS I mention above.

Have you tried running it in 16 bit colour instead of 32 bit colour which is the default setting.
I had a similar problem and that seemed to fix it.
That can be changed in display settings and click the advanced tab you'll find a pull down menu to change it.

RE: PzC/MC/ACW Windows 7 troubles
Ok my old PC with windows XP started to slowly die so I bought a 500GB portable HD about 6mths ago and backed up everything every weekend.
So maybe I'm cheating but in my new windows 7 PC I created a folder named HPS Simulations.
So thats Start/computer/OS(C:)/HPS Simulations
I copied my games directly into this folder I.E. HPS Simulations
I have absoulutly no problems whatsoever except for NRC, maybe it needs a new install.
To start any of my HPSSIMS or Mr John Tiller games I use this shortcut,
Press the windows key ( third bottom left ) and the " r " key together,
this opens up the run dialog box,
select " browse " and search for the game exe file and double click
The game should run OK.
IF NOT TRY CREATING A FOLDER NAMED AS PER MY INSTRUCTIONS, THEN COPY THE GAME FILE TO THE FOLDER. IF THAT RUNS OK THEN COPY EVERY GAME TO THIS LOCATION.
Hope this helps
