1.05 Patch Development Work Request

1.05 Patch Development Work Request
Matrix Team: Smoke7

It would be really helpful... and encouraging, to give JTCS players a "heads up" when the 1.05 patch development work gets underway! Smile

I want to ensure that all H2H Approved scenarios are included in 1.05. Idea

IMO, there has been a large number of well-designed... and well-received... H2H Approved scenarios that deserve more "exposure."

I know there are several 1.05 "wish list" threads, but I did not want this request to get "buried" in those hundreds of posts.

The quality criteria of the H2H section and that of the 1.05 development team are not the same thing, so I don't think it would happen automatically without a second look. Maybe a couple of them are good enough to include. I'm not the final say here though, Jason is (I assume) so you know where to lobby.
Nonetheless it is good to try to deliver quality scenarios for the patch... if one is patient enough to keep them on the shelf for a while. I have a few waiting for what is it? 4 or 5 years...maybe even longer? I'd like to include new 1.05 features (that are still not programmed) before wrapping them up and releasing them to the public.

"The quality criteria of the H2H section and that of the 1.05 development team are not the same thing"

Yikes, smugness is one thing, this is in it's own category, eh?
So, the "team" is going to maintain the "purity" of the game?
The "select few" looking upon the meager offerings of the "riff raff"?

"Nonetheless it is good to try to deliver quality scenarios for the patch"

After playing numerous stock scenarios and finding them wanting, some with the simplest of map errors, I think that adding scenarios from the H2H "Blitz approved" area would at least give players more?
The last batch of scenarios included in the last upgrade were all not of the highest caliber either. Everyone knows what I think of most of Huib's scenarios. At least the earlier ones.

===>Believe me, this is not about what I think of Huib or his scenarios. <===
What the game needs is more scenarios, graphics updates, bug fixes, a better AI, and a sooner release of the upgrade to keep up current player interest.

In the area of scenarios Earl removes all of them from his game folders. I remove a "select" few. None of us would remove graphics updates, icon fixes, bug fixes, a better AI, or any other thing that improves the game?

I'd like more input from the players than to be dictated to by an "elite" team who want to put in what they want. Especially with the attitude of "we know what is best". Bleh! Farmer

I disagree. I also assume that the players, both scenario designers and play testers, involved with the H2H Test Section, would disagree with your statements.

IMO, you owe your fellow players, scenario designers, and play testers an apology - but that's just me.

In any regard, Jason has replied to me in a separate message that he believes the inclusion of all CS H2H Approved scenarios is a great idea, as long as he has the scenario designer's permission to include their creations in the 1.05 patch! Smile

So, all developers with CS H2H Approved scenarios - please contact Jason and grant him your permission to include your H2H Approved creations in the 1.05 patch! Big Grin

An apology? For what exactly? You don't even know what the criteria in the past were before a scenario was accepted. For the upcoming MW and VN, I know that the current standards for the scenarios are even higher than they ever where in the past for JCTS.

Apparently I was told differently in the past by Jason about the H2H produced scns and that made sense to me back then and still does as far as I'm concerned. Maybe he has changed his mind in the meantime. Good for you.
By the way there are different ways to include them, as a separate package or modified with new upcoming features or whatever. I don't know what the plans are at the moment.
Apology.... yeah right.
