Team Game Experience
Hello, everyone!

I know that many of you, guys, play team games. Could you, please, share you experience about that. How does it usually work on the strategic level of the game? Is there one Commander (more experienced player) who plan the main direction of the operation, and other players were following his orders on tactical level? Did anyone try playing like that? Or all the team mates work on the plan together?

Any other tips about Team Game are very welcomed!

RE: Team Game Experience
I have played quite a few team games and usually from my experience we would ain't CiC who draws overall battle plan which is the starting point for the discussion among team members. This would include main attack directions and targets as well as force assignment. When I act as CiC I like my team mates to actively participate in planning and am not disappointed if my team mates just ok the plan. To me this means they either do not care or do not have a clue. I do not know which one is worse ;)

Generally we either split the map and forces up and let each other have full command over our sectors or role play a bit and let someone take overall charge and come up with a rough plan, nothing too detailed or controlling just a rough outline. ie take and secure this area or push towards such and such and leave it up to the individual commander on how to best accomplish that task, too many details and instruction stifles creative thinking . This is the method I prefer to play in a team game as it adds an extra depth and can be a lot of fun you do need to talk with your fellow commanders about unit boundaries and even lend them some of your troops if needed but that is all part of it.

I've only played in a couple of team games, so my experience is limited.

However, I can advise on the need to avoid two pitfalls with team play; (1.) Slow play (2.) Lack of communications.

There should be an agreed upon "turn around" time between players on the same side. Also, team mates need to communicate often in separate emails (apart from the attached turn email) so all stay on the same page.

Nothing will "kill" a team game more than these two pitfalls! Thumbs Down
