newbie looking for Kharkov '42 game
Greetings all,

I recently picked up my first title in the Panzer Campaigns series, Kharkov '42. Thus far, I am very impressed with the system, and after lurking on this forum for a while, am equally impressed with the community.

After picking up the basics of the system against the PC, I think I am ready to try my luck against a human, and am looking for a game. I don't mind losing terribly much, but my idea opponent would be willing to explain why he is defeating me/provide me with pointers. I don't have a preference on a scenario or a particular side, though I believe a small to medium game would be best at this point.

A caveat... I am not terribly computer savvy, so I might have some questions about the PBEM mechanics. I played CM many years ago, but was never able to get the PBEM function of that game to work properly.

Welcome to the Blitz, Caiussulla! I can't pick up the game against you, sorry. But someone will, and PBEM is simple, you just save the game turn to the game directory, and attach from it when you end your turn and email it to your opponent.

Good luck!

RE: newbie looking for Kharkov '42 game
Thanks for the quick reply Rick! I was a bit concerned it might be complicated when I saw the encryption option.

I'm not sure how popular Kharkov is within the community based on an unscientific sample of the posts here. . .my thought in picking this as a first title was that it would give both sides a chance to act on the offensive. Are there any particular scenarios in the title that are better for multiplayer? Are most players on the site using the alternative scenarios on Volcano Man's site?

Thanks,
Jason

K'42 has always been one of my favorite games in the series, for the reason you state, and also the battles can be very mobile. Charge to Chuguev is a good smaller one, but a lot of them are good - you can browse the scenarios in the game and sort by rating to see which have the higher player ratings. It doesn't look like the Volcano Man versions, which basically just use his ratings I believe, have had much play here, probably because the game itself doesn't get much play either.

One isn't enough
Thanks for all the kind welcomes. PBEM really is a quantum leap forward from playing the AI!

I am enjoying my game with Pawel thoroughly, but I definitely could keep up with two games. Any other takers?

I am pretty open to any of the scenarios. I thought #22, Cutting the Turkey's Neck, looked fairly interesting. . .

Hello there,

I´m seeking to add some battle into my current list, this looks interesting to go with. You still looking for an opponent or someone was faster than me? Big Grin

Choose the scenario, choose the side and we can discuss the rules and start the gameHelmet Wink
