The above and presence of the AVLB's suggests the 32 Regiment may also be given a bridge-laying ability.

Given this is a unique unit more or less descended from the WW2 "Funnies" I can see how it would be difficult to model.

But right now the only thing UK 32 Armored Engineers can do is dig trenches.

Is this WAD? Or did the OOB have a glitch?

After Engineer Trials in 1988/89 it was planned for each Armd Div to have 2x Eng Regts (the three existing Div Eng Regts, the two Corps Eng Regts, & 32 Armd Eng Regt) with 5x Armd/Field Sqns & 1x Field Support Sqn divided between them. The Corps engineers would then consist of 28 Amphib. Eng Regt, 43 Plant Sqn, 65 Corps Support Sqn, & 1x Corps Armd Eng Sqn.

the first post in this thread towards the bottom youll find a link to a BAOR oob, if you download that it will tell you everything u need to know about BAOR.

That's informative, but my question went more towards their functionality in the game. They are flagged for mine/clear, but cannot lay or clear mines. According to the above, they appear to have bridges, but cannot lay bridges in the game. All they seem to be able to do in the game is dig.

I am fine with that - I assume a design decision was made on how best to treat a mixed unit.

I just wanted to confirm if that was the case, and not that the units were flagged wrong or some unit characteristic in the OOB was wrongly inputted.

• Mine Clearing – unit is capable of clearing mine fields. This includes Engineer units but also units such as flail tanks.

• Demolition Unit – unit is designed to demolish obstacles, minefields, and fortifications.

This is what is suppose to be happening with its flags, a test would have to be set up to see if it is working properly but yes it is suppose to be able to clear mines.

As far as AVLBs they do not get a unit in the game because then you could bridge rivers with them which they could not, you need pontoons for that. Now where the AVLB units are represented is the fact that you can tear ass across Germany without worrying about minor rivers,streams and such which arnt on the map but would be there. You gotta see AVLBs as being there traveling with your units keeping them movin along.

OK, I ran some tests and here are the results:

32 Armored Engineer units: can clear mines/obstacles but cannot lay mines; cannot dig in (presumably because they are marked DEMOLITION)

Warsaw Pact flail tanks: can clear mines/obstacles but also cannot lay mines; however they CAN dig in (not marked DEMOLITION)

Interestingly, while the Pact flail tanks can clear minefields/obstacles without loss, the AVRE, as DEMOLITION flagged units, take losses every time they do so.

Is the above WAD?

I realize this is a tiny fragment of the action. But I am just trying to figure out how to use these babies.

When used as a demo unit yes it always takes losses. I have never used them myself really so dont know exactly how it works with having the 2 flags because if used to mine clear using the mine clear flag it should clear mines like any other unit but using the demo flag to clear mines it would take losses.

It was originally designed to clear obstacles as it would have IRL but as you stated there is really none to clear

The map looks good, but for me, in 2D magnified view, many of the hexes are blacked out.

Could this be my video card?

3D and other views are all fine.

I deleted the map file from "Bolt" folder. Unzipped and replaced a new Bolt map folder, and same problem...hmmm.

The same issue exists on my "Regular" maps, not associated with "Bolt." They have the new map, but lots of black space in 2D magnified.

Perhaps download the map from the original site? "map mod" isn't it?

The problem is not in the map file. You would see an error message in that case.

My best guess is the graphics file for the view is corrupted in some way. If you are using a mix of add ons you may just need to reapply them.

I've been trying to download 5.3, but 4Share doesn't seem to be working for me. Are the files mirrored somewhere else or can somebody maybe put them in a Dropbox folder for me?
