I've found "Truppenführung" pretty useful for CM, although it's more operational doctrine than tactical.
Anticipation and 'psychology' play a very important role, too. Especially if you play several battles against the same user. Try to guess what the opponent is thinking and 'feeling'. Determine the most probable and most dangerous course of action of the enemy, and plan accordingly. Try to deploy your units sensibly, keeping an adequate reserve behind the main combat line, and know when to deploy them (either in attack or defense).
The #1 rule is: Achieve and retain the initiative.
