Steel Panthers Online Human vs. Human
Hi there, new to the online business (played Steel Panthers since the original game), does anyone out there know if you can play Steel Panthers online human vs. human live, not PBEM or connected to a LAN or a two computers on a single network. Basically two computers in two different places. Thanks for your help, Andrew

Hi Andrew

The short answer is no, you cannot.

PBEM and 'hot seat' on the same computer are your only options as far as I am aware.
I am not aware of being able to use a LAN arrangement expect as another way to play PBEM.

I might disagree.
I was invited to play via network in a 2 on 2 game. I think I did it twice (I was terrible at it and I think I got dis-invited), but yes - we did play a networked game. It was a few years ago.

Doesn't the manual gives some info about it?
Would check myself but don't have them installed currently.

I assume we are discussing SP-CAMO MBT and WW2...I do not know the details for the other version (matrix) though I assume the structure is the same Perhaps I am wrong.

As far as I am aware a 'you-go-I-go' type game can only be played one turn at a time.
That's the basic concept of a turn based game.

Being hooked up in a LAN network means you have fast and direct access to each other but in the end you still have to play 'you-go-I-go', so I don't see how you can play 'live' or 'real time' or anything like that.
In the end one player must play their turn and then either send files to another computer, or 'pass' the same computer on to the next player.

That's exactly right, it is still IGO-UGO. Its really nothing more than playing hotseat with a remote opponent. It still good fun. I was playing SPWaW, so its available in all the different versions, I think.
