Coming Soon....
Hi All,

In between working hard on Panzer Battles 2, we have been preparing some updates for Moscow '42 and Kharkov '43.

There will be some engine changes for both as well as scenario tweaks for Moscow '42 in particular. Like Kharkov '43 previously, a range of Alt campaigns (and possibly scenarios) will be released to fix some of the issues seen with replacements and other challenges.

The other big news is that there will be a full graphical overhaul for both titles utilising a lot of the techniques and lessons learned from Panzer Battles : Kursk and the upcoming Panzer Battles 2. John Tiller's games are very moddable and its just required time to sit down and redo the artwork. The unit artwork being done here is usable both in future Panzer Campaign titles but also further Eastern Front Panzer Battles titles.

So for today's post here is some example graphics of Soviet Winter troops. Any guesses for which are the Siberian troops? Helmet Wink

RE: Coming Soon....
Ok another day, another post....

Here is a selection of the new vehicle graphics.

All our period specific with appropriate camouflage. For example the German's had grey vehicles that stood out once it started to snow and they only started white washing their tanks etc late in the piece. The move to gelb (yellow) only started in 1942 when it was realised that that colour blended in much better during the summer.

The Soviets were predominately 'Russian' green with the T-28 shown a bit of an outlier.

RE: Coming Soon....
The new map graphics combined with these new unit graphics should significantly limit the complaints that the game looks like a 1990's game without mods installed.

The vehicle models look good.

I do have a question: the Hungarian Panzer IV unit now has Panzer IV f1's and there are 14 in a unit, in the current game there are 11 in a unit and they have Panzer IV f2's. As far as I can determine from a quick Google search, 22 f1's were delivered in summer 1942 and a couple f2's later in the year.

I fear the Hungarians might become too weak with just f1's, historical though it may be. In Efremov, the range 2 tanks are an important asset and how you use them can be the difference between victory or defeat.

I found out about the F1's after the game was released....

I haven't decided whether to swap the F2's for F1's for the exact reason you mention.

I will probably have both in game and use the F2's for Efremov, but have the F1's for the campaign scenarios etc where it is less 'important'. That way we don't screw up the balance in Efremov which is quite a good little scenario currently.

RE: Coming Soon....
David, the vehicles look great, an excellent job!

One very minor observation is when viewing at normal scale when a unit has 10+ vehicles and is at 100% strength the second bracket (behind the 100%) runs into the "M" of morale or that is how it views on my PC. Wink

When there is 9 or less vehicles there is no issue and I guess it will be the same when the unit strength drops to 99% or less or both!!
