How to resupply
How do you resupply units? Do you need both ammo dumps and ammo trucks? How do you use the ammo trucks?

RE: How to resupply
You don't need both, the only difference between ammo box, dump and truck is the amount of rounds they resupply per turn. To resupply the unit must sit beside the ammo dump a complete turn, not moving. The levels that each resupplies is in the manual I believe. Box is lowest, then truck then dump but remember they can explode and kill those around them, especially the dump.

RE: How to resupply
Thanks. Do they re-supply any unit? Does the unit need to be out of ammo to be re-supply?

RE: How to resupply
You should read the instruction manual that comes with the game. All the details are in there.
Just quickly though:
You can resupply as soon as there is some ammo expended, it doesn't need to be all gone.
It resupplies the first of your weapon slots first, and then when that is full, it does the next slot, then the next.
If more than one unit is close enough to the ammo unit to be resupplied, the ammo dump will always supply in this order - B0, then B1, then B2 , Then B3 etc.
I think you can be resupplied from 2 hexes away, but that is slower than one hex away, which is slower than being parked (stacked) on top of the unit.
As Chris said - these units can be killed and when they are fired upon, the explode causing potential casualties to any unit within 2 hexes. The bigger the ammo unit (box, then truck, then dump) the bigger the explosion.
Enemy air units will always target these units if they see them (if playing the AI).
Ammo boxes can only supply smaller types of weapon. Up to medium size mortars IIRC.
So they are good for troops but not for anything bigger than med mortars. If you want to resupply larger arty units, helos etc, you'll need trucks at least.
The bigger the ammo type, the slower the reload.
The further away the unit, the slower the reload.
Hope that helps.
Read the instruction manual...it has heaps of good information!

RE: How to resupply
Thanks. I did read the manual but when I tried to use the ammo trucks to resupply they didn't seem to do anything so I thought I would ask.
The manual also references a certain number of ammo points per move for the various resupply units. I don't quite get that as it also says units must be stationary. Does it mean points per turn?

RE: How to resupply
Yes, points per turn is rounds reloaded.

RE: How to resupply
Glad to help.
Bigger shells take more 'points' per turn to reload. Both units must be stationary or the loading stops.
Once you stop, it will only start the reload during the next turn.
Being in the same hex makes things much faster, and also more dangerous if there are enemy Jabos around.
Good luck!

RE: How to resupply
I think the units cannot take any action. No shooting or loading either.
Working from my creaky old memory, everything works down the list.
A0 reloads before B0, which reloads before B1, C0, D3, etc. HE loads first. So if you are reloading a tank, the HE will load until full, then the AP until full, then the 'Special" ammo. HEAT, APFSDS, etc.
Reloads are by slot also. Slot 1 before slot 2 and so on.
Example; You have a British Grant that has shot it's magazines dry. The slot 1 weapon is a 37mm in the turret. It will fill up the 37 HE, then the 37 AP Then it will do the slot two, which is the MG, IIRC. Then it goes to slot 3, which is the 75mm.
I'm not sure how the 'load points' are allocated anymore. Originally, All points went to the first unit on the list but I seem to remember a heated debate about that along about version 3.5 I think that the change was to up the load points and then divide them among the adjacent vehicles. So if there are 4 units around the ammo dump, the load points are divided by 4.
Not real sure about that. Been many changes. It was around that time that I stopped playing with ordinance units. Logistics is an operational and strategic concern. Tactical units get supplied between battles. SP is a tactical game.

RE: How to resupply
Do ammo carriers also resupply smoke rounds? I have not seen them do it but maybe I am not leaving my units in place long enough.
