(Ongoing tourney game)- I reverse my T-90 and Tunguska along the red arrows to behind the safety of the wood near the West Road objective, only for them to fall victim to a surprise thrust from Tumatauenga's 2x Oplots and 2x BTR-4E's along the blue arrows..




My Tunguska is bleeding bad, and my T-90 is rocked by hard punches, neither vehicle managed to get off a return shot..

Eniced73 gets a Draw



Eniced73 scored higher objective points than me, but I scored higher for enemy kills, so our scores balanced out.

Endgame shot- I lost a T-90, a Tunguska and several infantry squads in my attack against obj #1 but it remained firmly in Eniced73's Ukranians hand..
The other two objs remain jointly occupied-




The battle for major obj #2 became stalemated after both sides armour (circled) was destroyed or immobilised, the final front lines are indicated by solid lines..

POS is a lucky SOB!
2:43 mark. Was finally able to sneak an AT team up to one of POS's vehicles. (I am not used to the spotting differences between WW2 and Modern. I am assuming the IR optics allows armored vehicles to easily spot infantry as it seems mine was being mowed down pretty regularly.) My team gets off a PG-7VL HEAT round. From only a little over 20m away I thought "OH, YEAH!" his tank is toast. NOPE! That damn Redwood tree stands in my way and deflects the first shot.




2:40 mark. The second member of my two man team lets loose with his RPG-22 HEAT round. "OK, This time he has no chance". Damn, wrong again! That tree is still standing and reaches out and swaps down another shot.



2:31 mark. OK. Third time is a charm! My man loads up another PG-7VL HEAT round and really concentrates this time. Rocket away! What the #$%#! If I hit that damn tree one more time I am going to RUN a round up to that damn tank.



2:17 mark. OH! Shit! We are spotted! OK, clutch up here and make this last one count. Third PG-7VL HEAT round away!



WHAT!!! Un-#$!%ing believable!!! Just kill me!


Four rounds deflected by the same tree. I looked at it from multiple angles and it was not any kind of counter-measures or rounds hitting the ground. Other than throwing my keyboard across the room when this was going on it was a pretty fun first game for me. Thanks POS.

Haha, but luck cuts both ways, it's amazing that your boy was able to get off 4x AT shots before the tank spotted him, so that same tree was messing up both our lines of sight..:)
In an earlier screenshot in this thread I pathetically wailed "Whose side are the trees on?" after GazNZ's missileman squeezed a shot through a clump of trees to knock out my APC, yet earlier in the same game a trunk had blocked my tanks pointblank shot against one of his tanks!
So it seems the trees don't take sides, or in the title words of Freddy Chapman's book-



PS- congrats on getting a Draw in this your first BS pbem game, I've played 41 BS pbems, yet a greenhorn fights me to a standstill (sniffle)..

Thanks. You are correct on the Neutrality of the trees though. Ha.

If it makes you feel any better I have been playing CM since it came out. Eventhough my first H2H game with this title, I guess I am not really a newb since all the games play pretty similar.

I know mate, you've been on the CM scene for about 14 years like me and other old hands, but Black Sea has only been out for a few months so in that respect we're all noobs with it..:)
Incidentally for the record Red Thunder uses the 3.00 engine, and BS uses the 3.01 engine as stated on the cover of the manuals. The new sections in 3.01 are-
p.44: Amphibious vehicles
p.74: Precision (guided) artillery shells
p.75: UAV's
p.76: Electronic warfare

Ongoing tourney game- I send a lone T-90 on a 'seek and destroy' mission, stalking on 'Hunt' deep into Raz Atoth's soft rear areas along the white arrow..




..but its progress is decisively halted when an unseen missileman puts one (circled) into its own soft rear..

Meanwhile Raz's Tunguska sweeps the main street of the major objective with deadly fire, hurting my tanks and demolishing houses in the process.
(One of the tanks returned fire but the shot slammed into a treetrunk)..

Ongoing tourney game:- One of Raz Atoth's invisible missilemen picks off another of my T-90's in the centre of the major objective, the missile came flying down the road out of nowhere and can be seen a split second before impact..

We both scored the same for objectives, but I scraped a win by getting slightly more kill points.
I went for all 3 objectives, Tumatauenga slammed the door to obj #1 in my face; we jointly occupied #2, but I was unopposed going for #3.

My BTR-82 gets lucky and spots one of Raz Atoth's AT-missile teams before they spot him,and opens up with it's HMG.
But the BTR's luck quickly runs out when the missileman coolly returns fire with a Corsar missile and my beautiful 8-wheeler is toast! I bought it because it was dead cheap but with hindsight I should have spent more pennies on something that fires explosive cannon shells..
