New title this week!!!

Well, looks like nap serie is going to receive a new title on this week, for the "Big B" Bill Peters, he post in a napoleonic forum for Tiller games some clues about what title could be

"Some hints:

1. One of the names of the battles in this title rhymes with a famous garden in Europe.

2. This general was dismissed even though he performed admirably as army commander.

3. One of the armies underwent a change of uniforms during the campaigns.

4. One of the satellite French "allies" provided troops for service in the French army but only grudgingly.

5. A future French Marechal fought against members of his own family."

And a clarification about point 2, one guys asked

"Bill,
Did General #2 win all the battles of the campaign?
I have a guess for #4 but any clue I give to my guess may give away the answer to the game....or not...


And Bill replied

"He did (#2). And he died shortly after the campaign was over too."

In other forum where i post initially we think in Eylau campaign being Lannes but with the clarification somebody points more to 1799-1800 campaigns with Suvorov as the general.

Lets see what we are going to see, in my case i prefer the 1799-1800 option specially if include Egypt campaign

Good point, more i think in the title more i see a revolutionary war title... after cover Peninsular war (at least 50%) pre empire area is for me the "nude" period for the serie.

Lets see if tomorrow is the day... or next day hehehe

Confirmed, is a pre empire title, Bill update his post with replies to the clues, maybe we can see today the title... i am curious about what is going to cover the title.

"Updated: Answers to above questions:

1. Rivoli (rhymes with Tivoli gardens)

2. Marshall Suvorov - sadly the Tsar discharged him and Suvorov died soon after having won one of his greatest campaigns.

3. Austria ... the infantry switched from the "casquette" to the helmet. Same for some of the cavalry. Different styles for the hussars and uhlans. Artillery headgear changed too.

4. Switzerland ... they actually supplied more troops to the Allies!

5. Massena... his family was part of the Kingdom of Sardinia but he took his allegiance with France and in Italy in 1796 he fought against his own family members (no, not hand to hand)."

Battles from 1795 to 1800 not all are present but... i want see covered Egypt battles but... maybe next title

We looked at doing the Egyptian campaign but several factors decided against it:

1. Many of the actions were cavalry vs. infantry (Battle of the Pyramids) and who wants to fight cavalry vs. squares? I played a "mod" version of the Battle of the Pyramids some time back and it was deadly dull to play.

2. The terrain ... we would have to add in a "Desert" terrain folder. Not impossible but we are on a tight budget these days.

3. The images .. the Ottoman, French "desert" looking units, British and what not would add to the graphics list.

4. There were about six actions or battles in this campaign that were worth even making a scenario about. I just could not see asking John to spend the money on this. Some of the actions include:

Alexandria
Invasion landing by the British
Acre
Smaller actions in the Levant ...

I suppose that a future "Russians vs. Turks, Austrians vs. Turks" game (good luck on that ....) could include the Egyptian theater .... I know that I thought about such a game but it just wouldnt fly .....

Sorry guys .. I know that for many this is a exotic period of the Napoleonic Wars but we just didn't feel that we could justify the cost at this point.
