RE: Spanish Civil War
All the SB titles will still run on XP. It should be noted however that with the next round of updates (that are in the works) XP will no longer be supported. We're hoping to start rolling those out this year.
If you despise Win 10, and many do, Win 7 is still a good option. You can get refurbished machines for a couple of hundred bucks that will handle the Tiller games just fine... if you need options.

I took the plunge and got SCW and am having a ball. In the scenario I'm currently playing, I'm on the attack and have only bolt rifles and a few SMG's. It almost has a western movie feel to it. I've compared it to the Magnificent Seven movie. The officers are Brynner, McQueen and Coburn, and the squads are the townspeople.

Glad to hear that you love SCW.
Looks like you are on your way to being a JTS addict like the rest of us!

RE: Spanish Civil War
I just looked over the list of SB games I own, and noticed a curiosity...
Spanish Civil War
Winter War
Tour of Duty
Grenada
I'm suffering from a chronic case of WWII avoidance...

When you are ready for Eagles Strike, make sure to get all of these scenarios from TF-Echo4.
https://tfe4.wordpress.com/sb-game-resou...es-strike/
and
Make sure you get the Sharp End Scenarios, too.

Also, make sure you look at this post...

And make sure you download these art mods, while you can. You will not regret it.

Highly suggest using JSGME to help easily control all non-stock files like 3rd party art mods and scenarios.
If you need help setting up JSGME, let me know and I will help guide you to getting it going.

I'm not much of a modder (yet). Can a player using mods PBEM a player who is not using mods? Are most of the mods graphical and sound enhancements?

Yes, you will have no problem using art mods and playing a PBEM opponent who is not using them.
Here is an example of what the Top-Down art mods look like.

Yeah, I'm new to this forum, but just from browsing around, I gained a healthy respect for Ed. Wish I could have known him and gamed with him.
I would guess that some of the guys I've been playing have been using these mods.
