In addition to my Squad Battles Afghanistan graphics (
https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards...#pid433741), I'm also working on some new unit graphics for the Modern Campaigns. I can't tell whether I will rework all graphics. I'm proceeding on a scenario by scenario basis, starting with Danube Frontier/Schweinfurt, which pitches US forces against UdSSR forces. A few impressions so far:
You can see individual pixels, but I think it has some crispy clean charme and also fits the pixel-look of the NATO symbols on the counters. A smoother (anti aliased) look can be done, but it is more complicated to achieve (bmp --> no semi-transparent pixels possible) and also less flexible: If you go for the anti-alias look, once you've finished the unit graphics, you must not alter the background color of the counters. (I tried out this approach for the T64 and 2 of the soviet infantry pics above: the odd red border fits the color of the counters; I will rework those).
