Viewing Counters

How do you guys even view the counter (ships,planes.etc.). They are so small even in 1920x1080. I struggle to immerse into it and Naval Combat is one of my favorites. 

Is there a mod or something I am missing(don't really like Windows Magnifier).

I use an old 40" HDTV as a monitor... (not on the wall, as a monitor). I can see it even with my contacts out lol...

To view the ships / aircraft:

I keep my copies of Jane's and Conway's Fighting Ships on the desk next to the monitor when I play JTS naval games.

For Command Modern Operations I keep my 1976/77 , 1988/89 & 2000/01 copies of Combat Fleets of The World on the desk.
