You Tube Treats
Hi all

Just discovered on You Tube the "Napoleonic PC Wargamers" channel by a British guy called Ross (I think !)

After doing an in depth tutorial series on Waterloo v the AI by JTS he has just posted up a huge series of a PBEM he has played of an 80 turn Campaign Eylau scenario which is very detailed and discusses his strategic planning before and during the game and is in my opinion a joy to watch.

He has also done a series fighting v the AI at Talavera but it is the PBEM postings that really shine.

Worth checking out on You Tube if you are at all interested.....

P.S......his efforts resulted in me buying Campaign Eylau on the last day of the sale despite having pledged myself to wait until the WDS update so beware Wink Wink

With my favourite painting used as the banner for the channel! (And I am French...)
Thanks a lot for the news.

No problem SG1.

He has now started a long series re-fighting Auerstedt against the same human opponent if anyone is interested in that battle.

Incidentally, despite being British I love Retour De L lle D Elbe by Steuben.

Great pathos knowing what was to come and showing the devotion many charismatic leaders can continue to inspire long after their peak.

RE: You Tube Treats
I have watched a few of the videos, they are fun to watch.

I have yet to buy a JTS Napoleonic Title yet,but watching these videos makes me want to buy at least one title.I am thinking of Campaign 1814 since that looks like fun but so do the others showcased in the video series.

I highly suggest you get the JTS Waterloo Demo called "The Final Struggle" and test it out.

By doing this, you also can look at the series manuals, too.   Wink

RE: You Tube Treats
Thanks for your suggestion,I do have the demo, got it a few weeks ago but I was struggling with it visually and did not play it much.

Had a thought after watching these videos and went to this forum
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.as...page=1&key=
and downloaded the Waterloo mod which worked good in the demo.

My initial problem with the demo was the 3D hand drawn map and the big 3D units which I didn't like, the map I found hard to visualize contours/elevations on and the unit graphics although nice were out of scale, now with this mod the 3D units and terrain all work well and I really like it.I even experimented with the .pdt parameters and edited to give more movement to the infantry and cavalry, totally new game.
I will definitely get one or more of the full titles.I recently bought a bevy of titles in the latest JTS sale and I want to play them a bit more before another purchase.I doubt I will wait long though, having a blast playing these JTS games.

For me it is the other way round. I really dislike the tiny 3D units which look like a mess of pixels and do not inspire with nice napoleonic era uniforms. The bigger 3D units can do that for me.

RE: You Tube Treats
For anyone interested a three player game between 3 experienced Tiller gamers fighting the full Waterloo Campaign...(over 350 turns !) with each player playing a different army using a virtual courier system as the means to communicate with Corps and allied forces is just underway on the same you tube channel.

A lot of well thought out house rules too.

Should be interesting.
