Would be great to have these more sticking out from the map as I find it difficult to see the units clearly. But probably only a problem of my old eyes.

Alpha Zwo, feel free to change the color of the units. It is very easy with any image editor.

I would do if I only knew how to do this.

Just open 2DSymbolsMag.bmp and 2DSymbolsLg.bmp in Paint (a program that comes with windows) and change the color of the background hexagons with the fill tool.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if you do that- because you have the hex graphics around where the unit symbols are - that just changing the hex shading needs to be done not only on the unit symbol graphic areas like you have - but also be done to match on the 2DGround and 2DGroundd files.

If you don't do this then you will have a different shade around your units but not the rest of the hexes without units.

The background hexagons that I refer to are the hexagons with the colors of each side. Changing the color of these changes the color of the units without modifying the color of the terrain.

Fair enough - I was thinking that you were meaning working with the contrast by making the map a bit lighter.   What you're saying should be relatively easy.

I just uploaded an updated version of the mod in the first post. I have corrected the total darkening of the non-visible hexes in the magnified view and added a new icon for the skirmishers, to make them more visible.

This is a really fantastic graphics set. Many thanks. Must have been lots of work.

The only thing I would crave is that the contour lines and edges were only as dark/outstanding as, for example, your field graphics - that is, much, much fainter. Do you know is there a quick way that i could mod the hex edge files to achieve this? It's obvious which graphics I need to 'lighten' (the bottom row of each of the 3 edge files) but would I have to change each and every pixel to do this, in Paint or RWP, or Krita or even Photoshop? Is there a way I can do this by just brushing over the relevant graphics, I wonder? I haven't a clue with these programs.

Thanks.

Thank for your words.
Sorry to have been slow to respond.
The lines can be changed with any graphic program. I use Paint.Net which is free and quite complete. You just have to modify the color and brightness settings.
I am currently preparing a variation of the mod in which I change the lines to shadows, which may be more adjusted to what you ask

That screenshot looks great -- approve of the soft-shadow effect.

Any news on the next update? Would love to try the new look. Sorry for my impatience, but it just looks fantastic.

Soon I hope to finish the new map mod based on the map of Belgium drawn by Ferraris in 1777
