TOC ladder stat's compared 2010 to 2020.

Hi All,

I thought it would be fun to compare last years stat's compared to ten years ago, as we all know the pool of players we have here is slowly dwindling as old age overtakes us all, so it should come as no surprise that 2010 stat's look more healthy than 2020's, however with the great work that David's and Ed's teams are doing in creating new titles we have seen a resurgence in interest on this ladder in the last couple of years, the forum in particular has been buzzing with topics being discussed and debated and players questions/query's answered.

So Rick and I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the forum and who has reported games here in 2020, below are the number of games reported for each title in 2020 and 2010 (if applicable). Sorry about the wavy lines it is impossible to line everything up perfectly (Courier New font resolved that   ).

In 2020 121 members reported 356 games, in 2010 184 members reported 455 games.

There was a period in mid 2019 to early 2020 when activity on the forums seemed to be lessening, but overall activity is still fairly strong at the moment. Some familiar players retire, others appear.

It's worth mentioning that in 2010 there were less other HPS/JTS games options than there are at the moment. For example: Panzer Battles's only appearance would be in a crystal ball or dreams in 2010. More so than for other ladders, given the similarity of the game systems it's no wonder that many PzC players can also be found on the PB ladder.

Admittedly, I'm somewhat surprised that so many games are still reported for some of the older PzC/MC/FWWC titles. The PzC/MC/FWWC series as a whole are popular. People don't play just the latest titles.

There were and are also a lot of people that play a handful of games, and a limited number of players on the ladder that report more than, say, 10. In both 2010 and 2020 the players reporting 10 or more games are on the first page of the ladder (sorted by games played).

Good that we have drawn in some very active new players!

Interesting that Serbia led in 2020, and F'14 in 2010. Some of that has to do with the new release aspect, I believe, but not all.

And a good point is noted about PzB pulling some game time that would have been against PzC in 2010.

Good to have everyone involved in things.

The stat that stood out for me was T41, there was always a feeling that this was not a popular title and with only 7 games reported in 2010 that seems to be borne out by the stats, but with 22 games reported in 2020 it seems to have bounced back!

Another note is that every PzC/MC/FWWC title we support (including the Mius demo) had at least one game reported, unfortunately the TWiE series seems to be totally dead with no reports for another year.

Unfortunately 2020 may be a bit of an outlier year, given that many (most?) of us probably had more time this year for gaming than ever before. I imagine there was a big jump in reported games from 2019 to 2020?

On a positive note, I don't think the stats fully capture the popularity of the games - I completed 6 or 7 PBEM games in 2020 but I don't think I reported a single one.

You should still report these games, assuming you can remember the results. Reporting PBEM games is important as it builds up statistics on scenario popularity and balance. The more results, the more reliable the statistics. So it helps the community and it only takes a minute to enter the details.

If you could take the time to report them we would really appreciate your time and effort, as Green says all these stats build a picture of a title and its scenarios in our database.

Of course both you and your opponent(s) would need to be registered at the ladder.

Yes please report all the games y'all play.  I frequently refer to scenario database to use the win/loss results for recomnending scenarios for tournaments.

Please report your completed PBeM games. 

It populates the game database and provides statistics to help players decide on their next game match.
