Campaign Series Middle East
Are there any sites I can visit that host mods or extra content for this game?

I was curious if any 2D Counter Mods are available in particular ? Have enjoyed alternating 2D Counter Art in some of my other games where I could.

I visited Matrix Forum and found the Unit Pictures Mod - yet to try that but downloaded it. Looks interesting.

Just Bought game and only just trying it out but I wanted to know if there was extra/alternative content I can use in my game.

Edit , I started making my own amateur Mods and have created a group of them for users to try.
Download available at Matrix Forum,
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=5106125

Will also post some newer versions of my Mods here later in the thread if users seem interested.

RE: Campaign Series Middle East
Did you know there is a MODS folder in the game with the 2.01 UPDATE?

It has a variety of different mods to choose from.

Otherwise, I'm not sure of additional mods.

RE: Campaign Series Middle East
Thanks for the reply,
I did find that folder after I posted my thread.

Tried the Black Outline Counters and the Board Game Maps ,they are both very good.

I have wanted this game for a few years and kept putting off buying it until now. I seem to remember seeing mods for the game a few years ago ,perhaps today all the main mods have been incorporated into the game itself.

Another question since I like tweaking things to my own liking. I did read a pdf explaining the main.pdt explanation ,and I thought i might tweak those values perhaps for my own game.
Is there an explanatory pdf for weapons.pdt , thought maybe I could tweak these maybe?
Looking in that .pdt for example I found a reference I think to the AMX13 which in the unit viewer has a code of 220031 ,and in the weapons.pdt I found this line for example ,
P220031 36 35 34 33 31 29 27 25 23 21 19 17
11 11 11 11 10 10 10 9 9 9 8 8 7 7 6 6
What do all these numbers relate to ,or is my surmising all wrong?

RE: Campaign Series Middle East
I did make use of https://www.theblitz.club/message_boards...?tid=69938

I like how the 2D map has the Unit Box Unit Pictures changed to Nato from using these files. This adds a lot to the game for me, did not like the stock 3D models in these unit boxes. The 3D map and 3D counters are nice as well but I prefer play in the 2D Map anyway and the file does not change the 2D counters at all only the Unit Box Picture which is a good effect for me.

Happy with the few changes I have made to the game graphics so far. Even used the menu options to remove the numbers from the onscreen 2D Counters.

Still interested in any info about weapons.pdt .

The P220031 is the unit id

Then the top line is the hard attack values and the ranges, so...
36 at one hex, 35 at two hexes, 34 at 3 hexes, 31 at four hexes and so on.

The bottom line is the soft attack values and the ranges
11 up to four hexes (or one kilometre), 10 at 5, 6 and 7 hexes.... and so on.

RE: Campaign Series Middle East
Thanks for your reply. You have been very helpful.

I found these threads that explained a bit more to me,
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3918444
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3939001
https://www.matrixgames.com/forums/tm.asp?m=3611260

New Questions,

(1)I created a new MOD folder ,copy pasted DATA and OOBs from main game into it.Also created a .jsme file that basically says my name. If I modify info inside here and load it up using JSGME.exe then I am good to go ,is that correct?

Folder structure is
mods
SEAN MOD
data
OOBs
me_SEAN MOD.jsme

(2)Another question ,
Movement.pdt ;
what do all these numbers mean?
For example 1st line,
200 0 8000 0 200 220 175 400 250 1200 300 0 300 200 175 0 375 220 300 220 400 220 300 0 230 8000 0 200 0 300 0 300 0 300 0 300 400 200 200 200 8000 8000 100 100 200 250 0 40 60 90 100 600 0 300 150 200 250 8000 0 150 400 0 500 0 600 0 0 0 200

Yes, that is correct, as long as the MOD folder matches the default install, that is what you need to do.

Quote:what do all these numbers mean?

movement cost per type of unit:
movement values 1 to 27 are hex type
29 is rubble
30 is trenches
31 to 51 is assigned to sides
52 is assigned to uphill

These values have changed for Vietnam as there are more unit types and more terrain hex types.

Also keep in mind that we will be UPDATING Middle East to 3.00, which will bring it up to the same standards as Vietnam late next year (barring any disasters).

That being the case, your MOD may not work if you are changing some of these key files.

RE: Campaign Series Middle East
The manual does provide you a HOW TO MOD section, Section 16, I believe.

This mostly deals with modifying/adding units and organizations though.

Something to browse through though!

RE: Campaign Series Middle East
Thanks for all the pointers.

Starting out small by modifying just a group of Israeli 106 Jeeps.
Made them fire 50% faster by changing parameter #5 :firingcost in platoon22.oob (israel) .
It worked well in game .

Don't have much of an idea about the Movement.pdt ,so I think I will leave that one alone. I prefer in my Squad Battles Games for example for Open Ground to have a low Movement Cost ,but in that series it is easy to change that value. Really only Open Ground Movement Cost that I would of liked to have lowered here.

The vanilla game is great by the way -I just like modifying things.

I will slowly work through some of my favourite units and give them some small tweaks.
Idea is just to look at platoon.oobs initially ;then and maybe weapons.pdt .

Might very slightly adjust the Combat Results Table in the main.pdt (maybe Terrain Combat Modifiers as well).(not doing that straight away though - want a better idea of vanilla combat first).

RE: Campaign Series Middle East
That's really exciting that you're tinkering behind the scenes.

Do keep me updated about your personal mod, and the things you are changing.

Thank you for your interest in the game!!
