Sci Fantasy Unit Graphics

Sci Fantasy Unit Graphics
I have been mucking around making some 2D Unit graphics for Modern War and also AOTR.

I have made 2 different Mods that are similarly themed ,one for each game.

I have made Info Box Graphics and also Map Unit Graphics for them. I also changed the Counter Colour for 2 of my Armies to get a better contrast -it was difficult to tell them apart in game otherwise.

They mimic tabletop Fantasy Sci Fi games. The Mods are not realistic in any way and take a little getting used to.

Would anyone be interested in these?

Thanks I am glad some users liked my Mod.

Download links.

Modern War

Probably do another version, these are already versions 8 and 10 I think -worked piecemeal on them.
I really like them.

There is some graphics that I did not alter yet.

For example in AOTR ,the Russian Navy Troops-yet to alter them.

Also in Modern War there are some Mercenary Type Troops that I did not alter yet either ,not quite sure whether they are good or bad guys.

Only got both games at Christmas sale and have not played many scenarios yet in either game -still thought it was time to mix things up a bit with some graphic changes.

Its good fun messing about with these sort of Mods, I am surprised nobody came up with a fantasy or sci-fi mod before. Although I think there is a fun scifi type scenario in Arab Israeli War.

If you have used Modern war have you edited any weapons in the database? adding the beam attribute to a weapon in a fantasy setting might make good dragon-fire-breath, or in a scifi setting some sort of laser. worth experimenting with if you haven't looked at it already.

There's a lot of fun to be had with all this and you've done a lovely job, but I have to admit its probably not my cup of tea.

Did not Warhorse do a Sci Fi mod for squad battles?  I had it at one time but can not find it now.

I do edit the Database to make my favourite weapons more deadly.
I normally make Mortars and Sniper Rifles as well as normal Rifles more damaging -like the normal infantryman to have a greater presence.
Also make Smgs range 4 and a bit more powerful as well to encourage close in fighting.
Adjust Shotguns when present to be range 2 and deadly, like them from my FPS games.
Don't normally touch Lmgs or Hmgs ,there range is too long already -same with Artillery.
Also added the X reliability to common small arms and light mortars.

I change the .pdts a fair bit as well ,the fire value i have upped to near low100/high300 type values from memory ,tiny bit more for assaults giving a slight edge to the attacker. Also make protection values for Cover like trees, buildings much less .And make move to or from ground 0 cost and give infantry 25 move points and make infantry clear terrain cost 5 .Few other small changes maybe. These in combination change gameplay a 'lot' especially with weapon database edits.

In Modern War ,Have changed the explosion/fire animation number to introduce a flame effect for m203(just a different animation number i picked-seems like quite a few animations are unused).
Did not know about Beam attribute. Might try that.

Another thing I do in solo games is give my leaders an extra chance at rally by saving before the attempt- bit naughty but I more often than not play as attacker and most scenarios are favoured to the defence..

I also do some infantry weapon unloading/loading when in game too ,find that is a bit of fun-even grabbing enemy weapons (pistols, snipers, lmgs, mortars) from the ground to round out my squads or boost my Leaders armoury.

Hey Barly, instead of using the save trick, why not give your leaders a Quality rating of 7 (A+)? I believe Heroic Leaders can always rally their troops successfully.

Hi, not YET!! I did do one for Campaign Series West Front, the K'talan Mod based on Harry Turtledoves Series World War, I think, where aliens invade Earth during WW2.
