WF Leros 1943
Leros 1943 These files are not missing but they are the wrong files. My opponent Yossarian discovered that after he opened the download. Wondering if anyone has the correct files for this one.
It should be mentioned Yossarian discovered another scenario similar to it? Can't be the same scenario because the designers are different. Leros 1943, Designed by Umbro. Green Devils at Leros, is Designed by George Raine
Posting his e-mail to me.
"I want to play "Leros 1943" but the scenario downloaded is the wrong file
for the scenario. So I did some searching and I believe I've found the
game under it's old name "Green Devils at Leros". page 18. It's 72 turns."

can anyone explain to us what the designer wants?
So my opponent and i have downloaded the files. And started to play.
We have tried to implement the the "night time application"
but both are confused with the (lack of clearer directives on the application use.)
We are playing but have no idea if, what we have done follows the directives given. here is an example of our discussions co

Enclosed in this package you will find an application “Leros 1943 Night.exe”. The application should be run by each player just before playing their turn. The first player should load the scenario up, save it, exit, run the application and then re-load the scenario.

My response:
The bold of his directions does that mean every turn? If so, I have not started it up every turn. If it means only the first turn I'm not sure I did that right. Should I have saved the turn , run the app and then reload the scenario. This is confusing. I will put that up about our difficulties maybe someone at the Blitz understands this, concerning the use of the application.

Night turns
Enclosed in this package you will find an application “Leros 1943 Night.exe”. The application should be run by each player just before playing their turn. The first player should load the scenario up, save it, exit, run the application and then re-load the scenario. This application changes the visibility for the scenario from the default (40) to 1 on turns 8, 9, 18, 19, 28, 29, 38, 39, 48 and 49, thereby simulating night, and to 5 on turns 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50 as dawn breaks and the early morning mist is driven off. This gives each player an opportunity for each player to prepare their forces out of the reach of enemy air-power or artillery.
If you prefer to play without night turns simply play the scenario straight up as usual.
There's a spot in the saved game file where you can change the code to make it a night scenario. Umbro included an exe file that, I assume, checks the saved game file for the turn number and if it should be night, changes the value of that number for you. Pretty cool if it still works. You won't know until those turns.
From what I read, before you play each turn you run the exe. Both players do this. It has to check the saved game file, though. That's why he wants the first player to open the scenario first and save it naming it whatever and adding your password (don't end turn, just save). Then close it. Now run the app and open the scenario. When you send to your opponent, they run the app then open the scenario. You both run the app before each turn.
Another way of doing this is to manually change that number in the code, but I've forgotten where it is. Jason Petho might know or Big Ivan. I played a scenario years ago where I had to do this. If I can find it I'll let you know. Manually changing it is easy. In this case, at the end of turn 7, the first side player remembers turn 8 is beginning. He opens the saved game file in notepad, changes that day to night number and saves the file. Then continues to play the game. At the end of turn whatever, he changes it back. Sounds confusing until you do it.

Now we can proceed forward. That option for manual change gives us a way to implement the night turns, which i don't think we were able to do with Umbro's directives. We Definitely missed implementing it as he envisioned it be done

Always welcome. I should add that the graphics won't change at night (pretty sure), but the visibility will change, as though it were dark.

So the instructions for changing to night turns worked well David. And it was pretty simple to do "as you said"! The key was in the info given by Umbro who identified which number needed to be changed.
On a sour note this scenario stills needs work on balancing see my comments at data page for Leros 1943
