Unit Bases West Front
I had a go modifying the USA unit base and that seemed to work all OK.
What picture number is the German Unit Base?
It has a blue/Grey Cross on it?
I cannot seem to work out which picture it is?

I did work out the Zoom level i liked that the USA Base is     Bases3D10.bmp   ,and I have changed this to my liking. I basically made this picture all green. I want to do the same with the German Unit Base .

See my post further down,

DOWNLOAD LINK ,early version , works.

RE: Unit Bases West Front
I found a file called "icons3d.bmp".

I think this might be the file I need to change for the German Bases.

It is odd though ,it has a different general layout to the other base pictures.

I will check this out.

RE: Unit Bases West Front
It looks like it worked.
The little Germans look like they are straight out of a Civil War Game now.

I assume in a non snow map the German Bases are Blue.
Yet to try that.
I am playing a random battle in the snow at present.

I have changed the USA and German Bases so far, as seen in my screenshots.
I will change the other main countries too.
At a minimum I want to change the British and Italians.

Would anyone like the edits I have done?

IMO, they look a ton better before. The plain jane look is just plain.

Yeah OJW in CS-Vietnam we have Standard, Alternate and Insignia. The Standard is just flat(plain) like you see above. The Alternate is plain also but has like a 3D raise to it. The insignia speaks for itself.

I tend to agree and I gravitate towards the insignia but sometimes use the alternate in difficult terrain.

To each his own I guess.

RE: Unit Bases West Front
New Question,

leader pictures on RHS UNIT BOX
eg GERMAN leader
p01401.bmp
(IN PICTURES folder)(group of them 1401-1406 maybe)
Normally a 3d sprite is shown here?
(WHICH is in MAIN GAME FOLDER itself)
But for leaders a 2d pic is shown?
How can I get 1 picture for unit on MAP and different (like leader) in UNIT BOX?
(Is this info in .org or .oob ,and what line or bit of info am I looking for?)

I would like to have the odd Tank for example have its picture from the Unit Viewer show up in the Unit Box just like the leader picture does.

Just for a few points of reference,
German
platoon001.oob
P01401 1 0 1 0 10 10 10 5 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 40 87 P01401 4 2 3 0 0 0 30 1 53 12 0 0 0 Commander 1 , Commander 1 ,

Random game I generated had this .org
Random0.org
B0112005 773 6 II. Battalion
               P01304 774 6 II. Battalion HQ
P01401 776 6 Maj.

You can see the Major has "P01401" referenced a few times which is Unit Viewer Picture.
The Major shows I think a kubelwagon on the Map and his face in the Unit Box on RHS of screen when I select him. He works vanilla in the game. How can I mimic this for another unit like a tank?

I don't think what I want to do here is possible.

However I can add a few more varied Leader Pictures though, since I think they are chosen randomly for individual Leaders and the vanilla Pictures include multiple copies of the same pic.

RE: Unit Bases West Front
Happy with my WF Base Recolours.
Germans in Grey and Americans in Green look great.
Done a few more Armies as well ,including the Spanish Civil War Armies ,they looked too similar in vanilla game. Even their Victory Hex Symbols I changed for them.

I have done a little more work changing Unit Bases.

I have done something for EF and also for RS as well.
For EF the Russians are Mustard Colour and Red if you select them.
The Germans are Grey as in WF.
For RS the Japanese are Pink with little white frills on edges ,and if you select them are Red.
Not sure I like the 2 colour Combinations I have at present.
The Russian Mustard is good ,not sure about the Red.
For the Japanese the Pink is Soso and the Red I think is good.
I am happy with my British Base Recolour ,used same is the 3 games.
I will think further about this-playing a few more sample games before i finalize my Base Colours.
I will keep doing a few more bases in meantime.

RE: Unit Bases West Front
Thanks ,I am still undecided with my Colour Combinations.

I will put a download up when I have play tested a bit more and have altered a few more Armies in all 3 Games.

Assuming I am not boring everyone silly,
I have had a bit more of a play around with the Japanese Colour Scheme and this is something I am now quite happy with. They still have a bit of a platter rather than a frill look and their main colour now is a green/pink (hard to describe colour). When selected they are Red. I like it.

This screenie is using Win10 scale and layout at 175% so the Base is hopefully clearly visible. I normally play at 150%. Good for my poor eyes. It looks cool all zoomed in I think.
