JTCS Display Issue
Hello All,
Yesterday JTCS worked now today it does not. It is affecting EFII, WF and RS the same.
I am getting a black screen during the replay of a turn. If I hit control alt delete the battlefield displays, but as soon as I move the screen it breaks up into 2-inch squares of the same terrain. I cannot see or select units.
It does not matter if I watch the previous turn or not and it also affects a brand-new game.
I am on Windows 11.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Erik

Erik,
My brother suddenly can't play either on his new Windows 11 computer. Game either launches and never goes anywhere, or he gets a blank screen. Working fine until last week. I had him do a Windows restore which worked for awhile, then the same thing happened. Leads me to suspect it's a Windows 11 update. He's now playing on his old Windows 10 computer for the time being.
You can try a Windows restore (Google for a how-to). It won't affect any files on your computer, but the update will just run again at some point. If it's the update, it will break again. My brother doesn't have a graphics card, but if you do, see if you're on the most recent driver. If not, update the driver, if so, see if you can rollback to a previous one.
You can also try uninstalling and reinstalling the game. Make a copy of the old game file first, move it somewhere else too. Keep it as a backup to preserve all your lod game files.
I'm worried that the game is heading for a system compatability issue similar to what we went through with Talonsoft. Hope I'm wrong.
Dave

RE: JTCS Display Issue
Dave,
You may have something there about incompatibilities with older games and newer operating systems. I fear one day the game (JTCS) will be lost because no one wants to work on that old stuff, just saying. Oh well.

Well, if nothing else it's nice to have company. This problem started for me around 2/16 or so and followed (I think) a Windows update. I still have my old Windows 10 computer, so I can play on that for now. Hopefully a fix will come soon.

OK back up and running.
Rolled back Windows to the previous build. That seems to have done the trick.

Make a new restore point. If it happens again the old one might not be there. If it was the update, Windows will try to update you again, and it will break again unless they fix it.
Maybe.

RE: JTCS Display Issue
JTCS 2.02 build is from August 2014, at the time Windows 8.1 was fresh out of the Microsoft oven. If Win 8 compatibility setting does not resolve the issue, I wish this is a wider problem and not just JTCS so Microsoft would fix what ever is the problem causing this.
