JTCS Display Issue

RE: JTCS Display Issue
Windows 10 Home is working just fine. My problem is with new ME update. I took it off and new install won't even try because it says I have a previous version. I'm stuck without ME because it won't put the version I had back on.

I am sorry I don't quite understand the situation you're in. What is the ME version you want to have in place?

If you installed 3.00.00 of .01 and want to go back to 2.31 you need to uninstall the newer versio using "Add or remove programs" per usual, then you can install the older version. Do you have the installer for 2.31 still around? If not, I can provide a download link.

Did I understand you correctly?

Note that both the remastered VN 2.00 and ME 3.00 installers automatically uninstall a previous version if one in place, it is not necessary to uninstall anything manually.

RE: JTCS Display Issue
Quote:I was able to reproduce the issue in my laptop. But after having updated Nvidia Drivers, Intel drivers and updated Windows  to 11 24H2, the game is working now.

The Intel drivers can be updated by downloading and running the Intel® Driver & Support Assistant:
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/...etect.html

Nvidia drivers can be via the new Nvidia app:
https://www.nvidia.com/en-eu/software/nvidia-app/

This is from the Matrix forum, hopefully it will resolve the WHITE DISPLAY issue.

RE: JTCS Display Issue
My brother has all the latest drivers (no graphics card). He's tried every suggestion I've come up with and a bunch he thought of. JTCS just stopped working. I'm stumped. I told him to check his intel drivers, but I think he already did that. We've tried so much I've forgotten now. Restore point worked, but Windows updated and erased the old restore point, leading me to believe it's a Windows update problem. Even if we blocked the last patch, that would introduce security issues.

Open to ideas.

Any luck with this, Dave? I am noticing some tech support issues in Matrix fora, for instance; Rising Sun is broken on Windows 10 [SOLVED] - Matrix Games Forums

He reports WF and EF run OK, but RS conflicts with Nvidia rs.exe. Renaming Rising Sun to rsa.exe works, he says, but then the front end menu does not work.

I do not have the JTCS202 source code, I do not have the Visual Studio 2008 IDE, but if you can resolve the launch issue otherwise, I can rewrite the new ME and VN front end scenario browser to read JTCS data, if that would be of help.

Edit And as I typed this I realise that would exclude the linked and dynamic campaigns as well as the battle generator. I really, really hope this is something Microsoft can fix under their Win 8 compatibility mode... :(

RE: JTCS Display Issue
No. I suspect it's the Intel chipset with integrated graphics that's the culprit, but it could be anything, including software, drivers, etc. It was the Windows update, however, that seemed to break it for him. He's hoping the next update will just magically fix everything. What's frustrating is that virtually everything else on his computer seems to be working just fine.

RE: JTCS Display Issue
Dammit, sounds like there's two separate issues, then.

RE: JTCS Display Issue
It's a bit technical but perhaps the game runs in a virtual machine (VirtualBox). It only needs very basic 2D graphics what virtual machines emulate with ease. That way it stays usable forever. (Win10 virtual machine, no internet access, no security problems)
