Here's the link to the thread on Shrapnel with the latest news concerning the upcoming patch:

And here's a link to a page explaining one of the new features (OP fire filtering; CD version only) somewhat:

RE: WinSPMBT V3 NEWS!
That is great, it will make setting ambushes much more fun. No more running jeeps down that goat path to draw anti-tank fire. I deal with that now by putting a leg unit out to kill the jeep, but this will be a lot better.
Does this mean I have to buy another CD to get it? Or will it be in the patch?

You do NOT have to purchase a new CD if you already have one. Just install this patch over V2.51b.
If you only have the downloaded version of the game you will NOT be able to access the new OP-fire filter routine (and will have to make due with the current options).

Super. I wiah EVERYBODY would buy the CD, so all those lovely E-mail slots will be put in use. Plus it will be great to have someone figure out the tourney things and do a tourney that way. What with that option and the ability to cut and paste map sections, someone needs to make a fighting withdrawal tourney

RE: WinSPMBT V3 NEWS!
Hi All
I agree that it would be great if everyone got the CD, for the 250 slots and especially for this op-fire feature.
I am not going to want to play without it just because my opponent will not buy the CD. I guess that'll limit my potential opponents...a shame.
I helped test this feature. It works VERY well.
You are correct Grumbler...many gamey tricks will just disappear, never to be seen again.
Hurrah for that!!
The main reason I got my CD versions of MBT and WW2 was to support all the hard work that Don and Andy have done over the years.
I am usually flat broke so buying these CDs was not easy, but when you compare the price of the game to a slab of beer that you'd drink in -X- time....the relative value makes the CD an easy choice.
Every time.
This is a very good patch.
The one for WW2 will no doubt be very good too.
Cheers
Walrus

RE: WinSPMBT V3 NEWS!
And then there is the manual. That has enough info to upgrade one's play by 20%.
What is a 'slab' of beer? Is that what us guys on the top half of the world call a case? IE; 24 beers in a box? 40 bucks for a case? You need to immigrate. I can buy a case of coor light, which is almost beer, for 9.99$US.
If Hill-de-beast gets elected, we can switch places. How are you on outstanding warrents? I have them in Florida (2), Virginia, Maryland, Texas and Arizona. So you would need to be careful about planning your route if you wanted to travel.

RE: WinSPMBT V3 NEWS!
Have you tried converting it yet? IIRC Adobe will import HTML and convert it to a .PDF I use Mozilla and I have never tried exporting a HTML file as anything. I see to remember a browser that had that ability, but I don't remember which one it was. I tried a bunch of them before settling on Mozilla. Netscape might. The New version of IE might also. Give it a try.
Open your browser and goto work offline. when you open the offline file (your SP Manual) look for an option that says export or extract. Then just pick a file (current ) and a place to extract it to. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. You cannot screw up anything trying.
