I don't think so.
The Fog of War option is determined in the Game Option window, by the player that sets up the game.
I've never seen a mention of it in the Briefing, during play.
I suppose you just have to ask your opponent as to which level he chosen..
And trust him.. :-)

I sort of assumed everyone was playing extreme all the time. Makes me wonder if this is true. It'd be kind of amusing to set up a game with no FOW without telling your opponent, and then insist he have to finish the game because no FOW level was stipulated at the outset. Amusing if you were no longer interested in playing that person again, that is.

Anyway, I'm curious - is pretty much everyone playing extreme?

Extreme all the time... although, admittedly, I don't specify it nor do I really check when my opponent sets up the game.

As Coil mentioned I just assumed everyone plays extreme.
