NGP^85: Range fire Soviet and NATO tanks?
The very first has played Scenario (#00) in NGP^85.
It is surprised by that Leopard-1 has range fire =2 hex, and T-64MRR, T-72 range fire =1 hex.
It is made for balance scenario ?

RE:NGP^85: Range fire Soviet and NATO tanks?
Epoletov,
First, I do not see a T-64 MRR in the OOB. I do find a T-62 MRR and a T-72 MRR. And, it seems make since for the T-62 to have a one-hex range in my opinion.
Second, the T-64 does have a two-hex range. Now, why the T-64 and the T-72 do not have the same range, considering that they both have the Rapier gun, I cannot explain other than maybe there is a difference in the fire control system of the two.

Its always been like that its one of the first things i notice and i have changed it in my new oob b/c the T-72 had the same gun and it lists at 2000m and some change.

Was mistaken, not T-64MRR, and T-62MRR.
For what T-62MRR (115mm gun) cut down range fire ?
Leopard-1 (105mm gun) probably has the best Fire Control, but at what here range fire?
I shall look where it is possible to write to developers of game about it.
All recently have made new patch, improve, have not forgotten game.

Well, I don't think there is really a reason beyond the initial OOB designers interpretation and the snow ball went down hill from there. I think it is justifiable to go either way.

RE: NGP^85: Range fire Soviet and NATO tanks?
Dont think its wrong or right that its 1 or 2 hexes, i think its borderline on which way it can go, in later years the T-72 did get upgrades with some improved fire control so i think your looking at what year and which model of the T-72. For reference 1 mile=1609 meters but that would mean your unit would have to be on the edge of its hex to reach 2 hex away in older models.
Look at the Hellfire, it has a range of 8000 meters but in the game a 2 hex limit for various reasons of game values and its not the desert, your not going to get a shot at that distance most of the time in central europe, but i can c it having a 3 hex range. The M1 and leopard 2 would be borderline 3 hex range. A note on the M1 in iraq is even though it was destroying t-72 at 4000m range the t-72 the iraqs use is the export version and actually has less armour on it than a soviet production model and i dont believe a M1 would destroy a soviet model at 4000m. It would be more like 3000m.

Volcano Man Wrote:...beyond the initial OOB designers interpretation ...
...which for the record, I learned at Tillercon II was actually Sturm.
In any case, I know this has come up before and each time I can't recall the details, but as long as the game donesn't have something that is clearly wrong, then I think I will leave the default ranges as they are.
