Picked up the 2 disc set at our local library. Have not started it yet. Anybody have any thoughts on the quality and accuracy of the programs?

I've seen a couple of the episodes. There are 3 or 4 historians who comment and they do so in an effective and entertaining way. I liked them. The action scenes are hyped and often ridiculous -- they try to get the "300" effect with a lot of flying blood spatter and so on, and I thought it was risible the way they presented Julius Caesar as some sort of WWF action figure. Hannibal was a howl too -- I think they wanted to get The Rock to play him but he was probably too busy on the remake of the Scorpion King.

Believe me, there are far worse ways to waste an hour with the TV.
